Little, Draughn and Houston made up like half of their all purpose yardage last year (and were the top three).
Houston is the one I was concerned with. He's a human bulldozer who could have caused problems for our "undersized" defense. Little could have been contained by PP ... every SEC team has 2-3 backs comparable to Draughn. White (if he makes the trip) is a 3rd Down back who never saw the field much.
Unless the Defense has mental errors or busted coverages, The UNC offense will have a tough time scoring a TD.

White looks like a good back; if they don't have him they are shite out of luck. AJ Blue, rememberr that name, was a top 20 national recruit, but his stats last year were atrocious and then he blew out his knee for the season. His career may be done at this point. This game is going to get ugly one way or the other. I sure hope the team comes out hungry and fired up and blows them out. If they don't, we can get ready for another season of tight games. I feel sorry for the UNC fans and I wonder if Butch Davis knew he was building his house on the sand.

Apparently Johnny White ( the 3rd senior running back) #3 on the depth chart wasn't seen on the bus either
he was in the restroom throwing up, some people just can't handle pressure

Seeing as how a win is a win, I wouldn't be upset with a 1 pt victory
good teams handle up on teams like unc that are missing this many players.

Consider the meltdown if JJ doesn't have a good game against UNC's second team defense
I hope he plays well, could give him some much needed confidence early in the season

As bad as this is, and I am disappointed for you. How worried are the fans that this thing could bring serious sanctions against your program? The deeper these guy dig the more dirt they will find. I hope that this does not wreck your program for years to come.

This concerns me ... we all know how stubborn Miles can be.

Both punt returners are listed as out.
That's not an easy position to coach up in a short period of time.
We'll see.

I agree with you, but not just for the obvious reasosn.
This is a golden opportunity to build up JJ's self-confidence by having him throw frequently against a backup defense. We know how critical it is for him to feel confident in his game and this seems like a situation that could really help him to achieve good results with a limited pass rush and likely many open revceivers.
Sticking mostly to the running game can be a sound strategy in normal circumstances, but a flexible coach will recognize that this change in circumstances can be the break JJ needs to get off to a roaring start.
I just hope that coaching stubbornness we have all seen and unwillingness to adapt to game circumstances does not become an obstacle to a breakthrough passing performance for Mr. Jefferson that could launch him into a very productive season.

From the link in the OP, most of the fans sound like Rantards, trying to claim that all D1 schools do what UNC was caught doing (trivializing it as "just using a tutor"). They're pretty irate with the NCAA rather than the UNC program.

One guy said it best on that thread, something to the extent of, its like a 12 year old getting caught watching porn, everyone does it, but some just take better steps at being careful and not getting caught.

Austin is a good player and will be a high draft pick, but he's overrated in my mind and supposedly his backup is a good player too. Quinn is gigantic news, he's arguably the best defensive player we would have faced this year, total badass. Burney is good, not great player, I wasn't too concerned about him anyway.
I'm pretty sure Draughn and Houston are their top 2 RB's and Little is their best offensive player, so obviously a bad offense just got a lot worse. One player we shouldn't overlook though is WR Jerahnie Boyd, he's super talented.
Carter and Sturdivant will both most definitely have to be accounted for, both are animals at LB and Williams is a really good safety.
Like I've said in previous posts, this is disappointing and not really great news for anyone involved, including LSU...that said,

This is far from great news for LSU from a media standpoint. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad our guys will have the opportunity to kick off the season away with a decent chance at a victory against a still very talented team. I just think that, in such a highly touted, nationally televised game, the window of opportunity for a "media win" is small indeed. If we steamroll UNC, the pundits will simply say that is what should happen when an SEC team faces a team whose defensive has been completely decimated. If we keep it close and only eek out a marginal win, those same pundits will claim that we obviously aren't a very talented team and our ranking could even fall (doubtful, but possible). If we lose, well, we deserve whatever we get in that case...
We have a schedule that will provide us with ample opportunity to make a statement, but I was excited to have the opportunity to see us come out of the gate strong against a highly rated opponent. Now, even after the game Saturday, there will still be a lot of questions.
Geaux Tigers!
