He was more than that and you know it.
ok.
and?
pretty much every single head coach that sticks around more than a couple years has to replace coordinators.
only the really shitty coaches collapse because of the loss of a coordinator.

And as far as replacing coordinators, was O's situation and outcomes any worse than what we've experienced since he left? It's been a coaching carousel and with not exactly the best of the best on the sidelines or in the booth on both sides of the ball.
yes. and significantly worse too.
Kelly has replaced a total of 2 coordinators since he's been here.
O went through
Canada, Slinger, Brady (yeah, yeah, PCG, whatever), Slinger, Peetz
O inherited Aranda, and once he left replaced his DC each remaining year - Pelini, then Jones (and Jones coincidentally made huge strides forward immediately after it was announced that O was done).
Kelly's scoring offense this past year is about 33 spots higher in National Rankings than we were in O's last season.
Kelly's scoring defense is about 12 spots higher (and climbing) from O's last season here.
I'll readily admit that where we are now is not where we need to be. and Kelly may not be the right answer to get us where we need to be.
But there is no way anyone (without bias) can honestly say we're not noticeably better across the board than we were in O's last 2 years.

OK. OK. Try this one for those with no life, no job, no woman, no future:
If LSU had played on grass, instead of turf for the first time in history, do the Tigers defeat Alabama instead of losing 35-21 at Tuscaloosa? Did the 55° temperature that day have an impact on the passing of Bert Jones during the Chinese Year of the Rat under the sign of Aquarius? What impact did the war in Vietnam have on the players that day? Desperate to know as many lives hang in the balance!

oh, and he was the HEAD coach, not an assistant.
looking for specifically assistants, looking for scenarios where both coordinators leave the program in the same offseason with one changing his mind and leaves.
no one has yet to provide an example outside of head coaches... why? i thought the scenario LSU went through in 2020 happens all the time and O is the biggest idiot for not handling it more betta

Honestly, I loved Ed O... I think he did a really good job, up to the end of the 2019 season.
From the outside looking in, it seemed like he got to the mountain top, and relaxed to bask in the glory.
His marriage fell apart, perhaps, it was already on the rocks...
I don't think his focus was on football anymore....
So, I do not believe he was going to get it going again.
