LSU’s bench is garbage on the offensive end with zero confidence to shoot.
Also, Darius Days chokes in big games as he did all year for big games.

First 2 lines was all you needed to post. They shot lights out and we had a slightly below average shooting night. That's the way it goes sometimes.

If we would have been up by 6-8 at the half like we should have been it may have been a different game. We weren't very good in the last few minutes of the 1st half this season. I can remember several games where we let the other team pick up an easy 5 or 6 points right before half.

LSU lost primarily because it didn't have a big physical presence inside, unlike Michigan.

Where are Glenn Davis and Shaq when you need them? Heck, even Gert Hammick could have made an impact for the Tigers last night. Michigan proved to be a more physical, stronger team.

Despite the questionable officiating, one thing that is not questionable is Michigan's FG % vs ours. More made shots on 17 less attempts is a gut punch. In the two 4 minute stretches that we lost momentum, it was as if we were just forcing up shots. Got out shot and out rebounded when it counted.

Very true! I'll say it...I enjoyed this game even though we lost. It was fun to watch until that last 4 minute stretch. Lots of runs and lead changes by both teams like a heavy weight bout. LSU just went ice cold at the wrong time of the game which was the end of both halves.

We lost because we can't play defense.

It's ok, no one really expected LSU to advance beyond the sweet 16 this year. It's a building year and a rebuilding program.

We weren't that great, will be better next season.

Played the season with 3 quality starters; Days was great, but not always consistent; and Hyatt was not a quality starter all year; plus the bench was non-existent all year!
It is hard to blame the bench when they don't even get to play in the cupcake games. Will Wade has always been very stubborn about playing bench players, which will be his Achilles Heel.

We failed to convert a couple fast breaks... during the UM run we cannot finish two point blank put backs and Watford misses two free throws.... Thomas drives...makes. The shot ... should be an..and one... they call charge on Thomas.. you convert the put backs... get that call. Much different game. We had little to no offense off the bench all year.

Whatever. Probably somewhat over achieved. Not relative to what we expected. Thought Sharif would contribute. Thought LeBlanc had more.

no no no, it had nothing to do with a shooting percentage differential of 15%, and 11% from 3, it was those evil cheating referees!!!

I think its pretty clear by how badly we lost the tail end of both halfs that we were exhausted. Obviously a lot of that is lack of depth. But what I'm shocked I haven't seen brought up is that, despite our lack of depth and how tired we looked at the end of the first half, we were in a full court press for the entire second half. It shouldn't be a shock that we wore down significantly as the half went on. Tired players miss shots. To me this was the biggest reason we lost.

This is the whole story. We were gassed at the end with no bench help and they were rotating in guys who could start for us.

The reason we lost last night was because Michigan had a better team than we had. And because their basketball practice facility has really nice coaches' offices in it...

But a big reason we were gassed is we were pressing full court the entire second half and most of the first. When you have no depth you have to be smarter than that.

I think you’re right, Wade just doesn’t trust our bench. Wilkinson to me should’ve been part of the gameplan to matchup with Brown. He’s really our only stopper type defender and matches up perfectly with the guy who put Michigan over the top late. You also have a guy like Gray who can at least put a body on Dickinson for a few trips to stop the open 3s that came off of the doubles and triples Dickinson commanded. And like the other poster said we struggle in the final 4 minutes of halves because we’re always gassed. There’s no reason we can’t have Cook out there for a few minutes against either side of TV timeouts to give Smart a rest. Wade is still young and still adjusting to bigtime conference basketball so let’s hope he learns and starts trusting his bench more in the future.
