Start at the TDtailgate at the parade grounds. Probably get free tour from a well connected Tiger fan. Wear some usc stuff, maybe a hat but no more, and possibley something LSU. Have a good time, can't wait to read your posts after your trip.

With that said, you should have a great time. Take advantage of being in New Orleans first and foremost. It has much, much more to offer than Baton Rouge. Get to campus early Saturday morning. I would suggest 9:00am. Just walk around as much of campus as possible and take it all in. If you're wearing LSU stuff, you probably won't be invited in to people's tailgates. If you're wearing USC stuff, you will, but like I said, expect some ribbing and don't take anything personally. Just enjoy the great Louisiana cookin' and hospitality.
Also, make sure to go by Mike's habitat. You can do that around the same time the band goes down the hill. Get in the stadium early to see pregame and when the game starts, cover your ears.
Enjoy your time here!

Great thread.
Some friends and I go to one big game every year and chose this one. Great to see our plan of walk around and pray for drink and food seems like a good one.
Is there a particular area where people will be overnight tailgating? Might be fun to make some friends and really go all out overnight.
Thanks

Go to inga's subs and salads and get a giant steak sandwich with grilled onions and bell peppers and a bag of zapps jalapeno chips.

To be honest fellow Tiger fans, I am pretty flattered that a Bruin, a Trojan, and a Fighting Ilini find Tiger Stadium and the LSU gameday experience one worth travelling to. This type of thing would have never happened in the 90's.
To all Tigers: let's show these guys what Tiger Stadium and LSU tailgating is about.
To all visitors: Wear your teams' gear. My favorite compliment of all time came from an Oregon State fan in 2004. There were 4 Oregon St fans walking around before the game so we invited them to hang out with us. After an entire afternoon one of the guys turns to me and says, "We just drove in from Vegas. This place is better than Vegas!"
Yes, he was drunk and he may have just been being extremely gracious, but THAT'S a compliment.

Great, thanks guys.
I plan on getting a Tigers shirt to wear, but will be rocking an Illinois hat.
PS. I saw USC twice last year (our game was USC at Cal, and I went to the Rose Bowl). I find that USC fans get upset at the mention of Stanford and/or their one-title ESPN "dynasty". ;)

Lots of good advice on these pages the best being wear your own colors and come with a sense of humor. Bring a camera and ask to take pictures to bring home. Did this last year with my Gator friend and the LSU tailgaters couldn't have been more gracious. They love to share their food. I don't think there is another school that taigates like LSU. Oh by the way, the stadium holds 92,000 but there will be 92,000 more outside the game that never come in!!! I hope you have a great time.

Hell, The Tigerdroppings Tailgate is this weekend. Since you have 1 post you are offically a member. I think it's on the parade grounds but these guys will know. BTW, if Treedawg is cooking you will love the food......just don't ask what it is. It may be a dish featuring Nutria or a goat that was beat in the head with a ball pin hammer, but it will be good.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Wear USC gear from head to toe and talk about the SEC being overrated.....just kidding. (The loudest cheer in Tiger Stadium history was last year, during the Florida game, when the USC-Stanford result was announced.)
Be prepared to look at what a college football gameday experience can be in a whole new light. Most of our fans are great, but the 5% give the rest a bad name.

Touchdown Village II, RV spot 367. Should be rocking this Friday. It's kind of been hit and miss with the way the storm-affected season has unfolded. But, with UGA starting a run of 5 straight home games, this should be one Friday night worth attending. But, as was said, walk around. Since it's a 2:30 kick, there will be parties everywhere on Friday night. Have fun and be safe.

Just don't wear anything USC related or mention you are a USC fan. Most LSU fans dicks shrink an inch at the mere mention of USC.

You're the worst of the worst. You're lack of loyalty is insulting and embarrassing. I would rather sit next to Joe McKnight at the Georgia game than you.

If you take only one piece of advice from this forum, make it this one:
Don't wear your USC gear to the game. Just don't.
Other than that, hope you have a great time!

Simple, buy all your family LSU shirts, drink, eat, and have a blast!

I am very loyal--to USC. I did not know it was a prerequisite for all folks born and raised in southern Louisiana to be LSU fans. I suppose that LSU fans who were born and reside in other cities such as NO LA or other states are disloral and the "worst of the worst", huh?

I think it's quite fine to be a USC fan in BR. No complaints from me. That's the team you choose. USC is a quality school with a talented team.
Anyway, I think wearing USC gear wouldn't be out of the question. As previously stated, you'll take some flak for it, but nothing too bad with a wife and kids. If you do, other Tiger fans will be more than happy to help out. Keep your chin up and enjoy the day. Don't miss the pre-game. I know I STILL get chills everytime.
