Andre Smith has the most upside of any OT I have seen in a long time. He has exta long arms, Big body, very quick feet and he is strong. I think he is the best O-line draft prospect in the Country. Ciron may play just as well as him on saturdays, but on sundays Andre will be better.

Why so hard to get an answer to this guy's question? LSUDAD seems to be one of the few willing to answer it. Either Pitmann won the line contests that day or he didn't! The OL-man's draft status is irrelevant.

Smith had a lot of trouble in the 4th Qtr, as did the whole O-Line. I think it was towards the end of the game he gave up a sack and AS was coming off the field and Saban met him halfway and AS just threw his hands up as if to say wtf do you want me to do. So yeah, if you look at that one game I can see how some of you would think that AS is overrated.

Well considering we have 4 potential NFL players on the line with dorsey, jackson, pittman, and favorite last year than yeah I wanna use that game as my gauge!

I was just trying to add a little humor, no one caught it.
Tyson is getting most of the pub, but keep your eye on K-Pitt. In case you missed it, K-Pitt did lead the team in Sacks and was second in TFL. He is the leading tackler returning from last year.
Like I said, one is getting all the pub and one is putting up all the #'s.

He's given up maybe 1 sack in his career
That's a lie. He gave up 2 just last year to Kirston Pittman in the LSU game.
I remember Saban bringing him aside once in the game and yelling at him for not blocking.
He's good, but he's still living off high-school hype a bit. Michael Oher is better. I'd say Ciron Black isn't much behind him if he is.

Smith, Oher, Loadholt.... man, just think how absolutely sick LSU's OL could be right now.
It is already one of the best in the country, but jeepers.
(and, yeah, I know Loadholt has had off-the-field problems with grades and now a DUI)

Andre Smith is a great, great player.
That said, there have been a lot of concerns about his weight which fluctuates. When in shape he's phenomenal.
However, Kirston Pittman did beat on him pretty damn good in that game.

This thread got me curious... LINK At 1:14 in this clip, Kirstin got a sack while being blocked by A. Smith. At 2:26 he got a second. FWIW
Game stats show Kirstin had 2 sacks that game (of LSU's 7).

Honestly Andre Smith is a good LT, but he is not Chris Samuels. He was a 5 star recruit that is still taking advantage of the hype. He will be a pro but not a top 10 pick as there are a few LT that are better. He may even slip to the late 1st or early 2nd round. He may even end up being a RT, as he has serious issues with fast athletic DE. Kirston Pittman gave him fits. Watch the entire game and you will see KP blowing by him untouched a lot. I would say Ciron Black is just as good.

You just had to bring up visual proof.
