just think about the infected portion of the fanbase who denigrated coach O for the last 3 years. NOt talking about the doubters but those that were so sure that he was a loser and shite coach and were so eager to say it on a daily basis and didn't want to hear anything about giving him a chance or giving him any credit for the things that he was doing that were good for the program and the way they tried to shite on the fans that said anything positive about him. I was against the Orgeron hire as much as any one.
But as the quote above nicely puts it, I was against it because I want LSU to win and win big. I can’t imagine anyone has enjoyed this season more than I have. And for that, Orgeron deserves the credit. He didn’t need my blessing to succeed, and he doesn’t need my apology now. Coach O will keep on doing his thing, and I as a LSU fan will keep on celebrating his victories.

I’ve given all credit to O. This team showed up every single week and as HC that is 100% a reflection on him.
And I’ve even said multiple times here, even if this team can’t finish it out and bring that NC home, it doesn’t diminish what he and this team have done this year imo.
When you close out the teams on your schedule from the beginning of the year and you’re sitting on top of the rankings, you’ve succeeded. Beyond all hopes.
What happens after that doesn’t change that you conquered every team you set out to compete against.
This year will live in LSU history and O will be right there with it for all time.
That doesn’t change that I still have doubts about the long term sustainability of this CEO model we have right now, especially since Burrow has proven to be a once in a lifetime player that is as responsible as anyone for what we’ve witnessed.
Just like the book wasn’t closed on Miles after 13-0, O will continue to be held to the standard we all know the LSU football program is capable of achieving, year in and year out.
Gene Chizik wasn’t given a lifetime contract after he and Cam took home an NC, and O also has to prove he can keep winning consistently when his own Heisman QB is playing on Sundays.
Of course that doesn’t mean NCs every year, but we all saw that 9-3 or below a few years in a row isn’t acceptable here.
And what a good thing that turned out to be.
That doesn’t change because of one legendary season. Time doesn’t stop when LSU is on top.
I know, this will get bashed because obviously we’re the best and the program is unstoppable now and anyone not saying O is clearly the best coach of all time just wants him to fail so they can be “right”, but the reality is that I already was wrong.
I fully admit I didn’t believe O could win a championship here. He is going to do that. I was wrong 100%. Burrow being the engine behind it doesn’t change that.
So I will never be “right” about that. I’m not holding out so I can say I told you so. If O never even gets to a bowl game again after this season his tenure will still be a shining chapter in LSU history and he will forever live on as a legend of Tiger Nation.
But that still doesn’t mean his work is done. He has to keep building us up or eventually his time will be up just like I said that Miles’ time was up when he wasn’t pushing us forward anymore.
And O would be the first one to agree with that.
