sorry, i'm going to Steve Ensminger's BBQ. Les hired him specifically for his grilling skills so this should be epic.

Gutsy call by Mainieri. If he is playing matchups, I'm fine with it. But if he is worried about Ranaudo's arm, then he really screwed up by risking the post-season just to win the SEC Tournament. I know we all love to win, but Mainieri definitely places more important on that tournament than Bertman did. Skip only wanted to play 3 games to get his 3 starters some work. Other than that, he really didn't care. But if I had his NCAA Tournament record, I wouldn't care about anything else either.

Also, if we lose to UC Irvine, you have to try and beat Kent State without Ranaudo. You're not winning that tournament wasting Ranaudo on the Flashes (or whatever they are) in the loser's bracket.

I haven't seen or heard anything which would indicate there is any problem with AR's arm. In fact he threw well vs Bama with great velocity the whole way.And if PM wanted he could certainly pitch AR on 5 days rest. Plus his stint Sunday was similiar to a bullpen which he would have thrown Sunday anyway. And personally, considering our struggles going into the Tourney, I think it was crucial for us to win that game and continue our momentum and mojo into the regionals.

I like this move. Bibona likely won't be sharp since he has been battling an injury. Ross might give up a run or 2, but I think that the Tigers can get to Bibona and then to the pen! Very strategic move that I think has only a moderate level of risk.

This just begs the question, was brought up a few times yesterday... If Ross doesnt get it done & we find ourself in the losers bracket vs Kent State, does PM have the stones to run Bradshaw or Joey B out there, or does he throw Ranaudo? I guess alsup is an option too, but I think we'd need him and AR1 to climb out of the losers bracket. I say give the ball to Bradshaw vs Kent St n an elimination game.

good question, I'd lean toward Alsup against Kent State in that scenario, then Ranaudo against Irvine/UCLA loser

if still alive, you've got Bradshaw and then Bourgeois still available

The question is how long will Biblona go? UCI fans have said their bullpen is shite. Since he hasn't pitched in a month, will he be restricted to 5 innings or so?
