Wow, that's awful. I curse like a sailor, but to chant that out loud? That's crossing the line.

Go back to your prime, which evidently was the Golden Age Of Radio, then.

It was Tiger Rag. It first happened in 1988 by a Piccolo player who had just quit the band during the season. She sat right in front of TB during a game and started it. It caught on instantly and has never faded away. It made Frank Wickes crazy every time it happened.
Yes, I even know her name.

That we don't play the musical piece(tiger rag) that the vast majority of our traditional catalog is based on is a damn shame. And whoever has say over it that still allows it to happen should be ashamed of themselves, because they don't really care about what's best for LSU.

There are a million things they have banned last year.

Thanks to the drunk classless idiots who added the verbal insults to get it banned
No one wants their wives and kids subjected to disgusting chants like that.

Kick their a- is still chanted regularly on first down. (Although not as loudly as it once was...) A-hole from tiger rag could rarely be heard outside of the student section. That's enough to ban (arguably) the university's most important musical piece? Give me a break.
Adults don't get a break for spitting on tradition as an overreaction to what children do.

Tigercat, I understand your frustration and agree it would be great to hear those sounds, buttttt class is something money doesn't buy and wins don't accomplish, but is earned in one sense like pride in your university by NOT chanting vulgarity in the presnence of national audiences, kids and ladies. I'm no prude, cuss my head off at times but am greatly embarrassed by the more vulgar slurs as in neck.
We're talking about the place you graduated from, not some low rent public school or city college in a poverty area (no offense intended). Chanting cuss words is unfortunately, not cool with the vast majority of grownups or America for that matter.

They played Neck again at the Cotten Bowl, and the student section behaved pretty well. I hope this means it's back and here to stay!
I hope they give oh-we-oh another shot, too. But I don't see Tiger Rag ever coming back. Maybe in another 5 years.

Is there a single song or musical piece from chopstick to Silent Night that can't be denigrated with obscenities? You might as well disband to band and quit playing music if that is the reason.

I don't quite understand what you mean. But It's the athletic department that bans the songs, not the band. If the athletic department gets notice from espn (or whoever) that an obscene cheer was picked up and accidentally broadcasted live to tons of people, the athletic department notifies the band department and tells them they can't play it anymore, otherwise the network will give them more heat. In addition, the band has to listen because the athletic department is where almost all of their funding comes from.

If people would stop making such a big deal about now I'm guessing the simple minds of college students would just move on. The more you tell a bunch of 18-22 year olds not to do something the more they're just going to do it anyway.

ain't that the God's honest truth.

Maybe instead of banning the songs, they should ban the students for a game. I would love to get those tickets by the band.

When you watch the CST replay around children you have to mute it at just the right time or a child may ask you a question about fellatio. That is pretty lame. eta, didn't mean to respond to you in particular.
