I'm surprised any of them really care that much, honestly.

USC is the most underachieving program in the country. They're ranked 5th in composite talent.

This is great! They went from claiming our title in ‘03 & having a self-proclaimed dynasty to envying our coach that they let slip away & that most of us thought wasn’t nearly good enough when he was hired. How the turntables!

in '03 on vacation on the gulf; UGA fan sees me wearing a NC Tiger t-shirt.
yells "co-National Champion", "LSU was the co-champion." i responded with, "SEC Championship."

dumbass dog.

His resume was the work he was doing with their program
They really fricked up.

What he did there was part of why I was happy we gave him a chance here.

no, but resume could be a big enough red flag to get you not-hired.

i mean most people here felt that way about him too.
and it wasn’t because of his voice/accent.

Yep. Tom Herman was hired on Resume. Jimbo was hired on Resume.

Ed was hired by what he said in interviews, what he did at LSU and his recruiting.

He most likely wouldn't have been made interim if this was the case at USC.

people who have zero shot at the permanent gig get named interim coaches all the damn time.

Ed O at that time would have been a ridiculously large risk. No matter what voice/accent was.

people that honestly think his voice was the reason he wasn’t hired is just looking for a victim.

if it was his voice, THEN he most likely never would have been given the interim gig.

if the admin didn’t want him as the “voice” of the program, they most likely never would have let him do it. not even temporarily.

but they may have wanted a guy already on staff with experience to just hold things together until a permanent hire can be made.

Eh, he wasn't fired. In fact Sark wanted to keep him on staff.

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story though.

Typical contrarian goldrush post..

I just want you to know that you are a HUGE douchebag.. you’re like the Great Value Shel. You aren’t half the contrarian that he is

easy tiger Era - I'm sure I'll get blasted for that comment, but Pete Carroll is an all timer. Simmer down

So you’re telling me that O could dominate the schedule we had this year, in the SEC west, SEC title game and most likely win it all in year three, but not be able to accomplish that at USC with a far easier path?! Pete only has one title at USC so what’s so special about that when he owned the west coast for years? And did alot of cheating also. Digress my friend.

no, he’s saying Ed has to do this longer to be on the same level as guys that did it for a while.

It’s not a prediction that he can’t or won’t.
just that you have to get there first.

you CAN respect another coach without it automatically being a put down of others.

So are you interested in an accurate record of events or alternative facts?

He wasn't fired. That's easily verifiable. They wanted to keep him, but he didn't agree to the terms, so he walked out.

It doesn't diminish anything he's done here but let's not paint this picture that he was discarded from USC like garbage.

Here is the thing. When o did not get that job, his wife said god had a better plan. O said it better be a good one!

If you ask O I think he would agree god did have a better plan.

You realize many LSU fans said the same things about Coach O. They also repeated the he’s one of us bullshite as a negative. Got damn I’m glad he is successful. Probably the ones north of I-10 so to be honest who gives a shite what they think. Basically Yankees anyway.
