Need more than one good pitcher.

Predict the end of the season starters
Evans R
Williams L
Moore R

Might have to piggy back at the start, but if these guys can get through 6, that's a solid trio.

Gotta have an ace who gives you 6 or 7 every friday against the other teams best guy.

CF Curiel L
SS Milam S
RF Brown L
C Arrambide R
1B Yorke L
LF Stanfield R
3B Caraway
2B Dardar
DH Simpson

Batting Yorke then Stanfield...
I have to see that at least once this season.

And Yorke then Milam too.

Stanfield will lead off, at least to start the season. He’s been leading off in all of the scrimmages in the spring, and Jay Johnson said in a recent interview that he’ll most likely lead off.

I think I’d rather Curiel leading off with Stanfield in the 9-hole, but it’s looking like Stanfield leading off with Curiel in the 2-hole to start the season.

LINK

Around the 22:25 mark is where he mentions Stanfield leading off.

I'd like to see him in the 9 hole. It's like having a leadoff hitter to turn the lineup over to the top of the order. Plus he seems to be your best base runner and has the most steals

He is, but height doesn’t affect his ability to play SS

Your range and ability to get to balls is certainly impacted at least somewhat by your height and reach. That's pretty obvious. But not to the degree it cant be overcome, but it absolutely is a factor. . .

I agree. My post about him leading off was before yesterday’s scrimmage. Up until yesterday, I think he had led off for most of the preseason. So maybe he will hit 9th instead of lead off, especially if he hits 9th the rest of this weekend.

Interesting that Brayden Simpson isn't on the list for second base for the simple fact that he's listed as one of the top 50 second basemen by D1. Looks like he's #5 on their list

Yep. Kendall Rogers talks to the coaches (Jay) about these lists. He wouldn't list Simpson as a top secondbaseman if he didn't think Simpson was the top option at LSU. D1's list is a pretty decent indicator of our starting lineup b/c Jay's on the phone with him promoting his players.

nah, its quick area movements. shorter people move better in short areas on average, thats a well-documented scientific fact.

The image site is giving me trouble trying to upload and keep images up so I've all about given up posting the players pictures. Sorry guys.

I might go back and clean it later when I have time to do that.

The 9 hole was where he had the greatest impact on the offense last season. Look for more of the same IMO.

Its an obvious pick but Curiel is who im most excited to watch this year.

The kid's raw instincts and natural talent for baseball shined last year. and while he was physically limited as a freshman. He showed a rare level of calm and control on the mental side of things.

I am SO looking forward to seeing the physical tools and strength/burst start to catch up to the mental prowess. We could be watching one of the LSU greats.

Fire Jay, Yeskie, Javi and the image site.

JK. Keep the previews comin bebe!

I think Derek's arm is better than you give him credit for. It was hidden in left last season, but in intrasquad last year he spent some time in center.

I can recall a couple of plays where he fielded the ball off the wall and at the warning track in right center. He was able to gun down runners at third trying to tag up and advance from second.

Those throws were things of beauty and couldn't have been more on the mark. I think that we see more opportunities to get a better look at his arm tool this season manning CF.

You want to get Curiel as many bats as possible. He has speed, works the pitch count up and gets on base. He needs to be leadoff in every game in my opinion.

I have a hard time seeing both Stanfield and Caraway at the top of the order.

My order would be something like this. Maybe split Brown and Yorke up with a righty?

Curiel L
Caraway R
Milam S
Brown L
Yorke L
Arambide R
Dardar L
DH
Stanfield R

I agree. He is patient and gets on base with whatever the pitcher offers. I do love Stanny turning the batting order over though

Harden was hitting so well in the fall and has some power. I was wondering if he was going to challenge Stanfield at some point because of the power advantage. He has cooled down this spring. I would love to see him get it rolling again.

High ceiling for Patrick but like Adam said, no need to hurry him along.

Braun is my leading candidate for DH at this point. He is still learning to play outfield at this level. That will come with time. He's a very polished at 1B if that need comes up in the future.

I could see Braun having a similar season to Larson's freshman year. They seem to be very similar players from what I've read so far
