Travinski had a knee issue coming into college, which is why he mainly DH’d even with Milazzo struggling. He was cleared at some point during the season and started to catch some. McManus also had an injury coming in, which is why he didn’t run the bases much during the fall. I think it’s important to have Priester hang around for depth, at worst. Otherwise, you may need to work Bianco and Crews behind the plate some or add B Doughty back.

We were not altogether healthy during the fall. Even Morgan and Berry sat a bit. Johnson seemed confident that we’d eventually be healthy, nothing too serious, but he didn’t sound completely sold on being healthy on opening day.

Correct!
I was told Pearson is strictly LF/DH at this point. Pearson has so much upside offensively to put this team on another level. He was born to hit!
Was told Dugas is an option at 2nd base as well…..JJ has a lot of options.
Also, Milazzo is gonna play….a lot! He’s that good defensively

The Priester thing is very puzzling. He seemed dead set on going pro initially, but was convinced to go to school. Now he’s allegedly redshirting off the roster. So he went from wanting nothing to do with school and just playing ball to going to school and not even playing baseball…. He must have really, really struggled in the fall and scouts were not really that high on him coming out of HS. There’s no way he was considered a top 200 prospect by pro scouts and isn’t worth having on the roster right now.

He's been in multiple videos put out in the last week from practice. I'm not sure where the idea he isn't playing baseball is coming from.

Because he isn’t on the roster? I’m assuming that means he won’t appear in any games.

Looks like he’s now added to the roster. Maybe it was just an oversight on whoever updates the website. They still haven’t even done player photos for the season so it doesn’t seem like they really care about keeping it up to date.

There is a wide gulf between not appearing in any games and not playing baseball at all.

Not getting any live at bats for an entire season is a pretty big deal for someone considered a top prospect. There’s really not that much of a difference between going to practice to hit BP and catch bull pens vs training away from the program at a facility that you can do the same thing at. “Not playing baseball” means he isn’t appearing in any live game action. Doesn’t mean he was expected to not touch a ball for a year.

It’s a moot point tho, because he is now listed on the roster and so is Wyeth. Again, maybe something changed, or maybe the people running the site just don’t give a shite. Either way, looks like he is a normal member of the team.

Doughty and Brady are back on the roster as well.

Gause transferred to a D2 school.

Brant Smith went to juco in Florida.

Haddad didn't get added back to the roster. I don't know what his situation is. I think he could still end up at JUCO, but time is running out on that.

Haddad seems like a redshirt or Delgado guy. I think he could be or become a D1 player (in fact, I like him alot), but it seems like the LSU OF is going to be very, very crowded for awhile.

Does that put us at 45? I have no idea what the plan is to get to 40 at this point?

Website has 46 players but includes Holt, Leto, and Simon, who are all believed to be medical redshirts. So, that puts us at 43. I'd imagine at least 1 of Wyeth, B Doughty, or Priester will not be on the roster, but more of a bullpen guy. That puts us at 41-42. Not sure why Brady is on the roster at all, and probably have 1 more pitcher that redshirts.

Just a guess, though.

I'm wondering if the coaches were trying to help him get to JUCO. I think College of Southern Nevada is a potential landing spot. Delgado is also a possibility.

If he goes the JUCO route in the first place of course.

No joke, that's gotta be scariest 1-5 lineup in the country just about.

I'm expecting to have more than five. McManus, Drost Pearson, Jobert, Beloso, Bianco, etc.

And Merrifield. Just so many good players. I'm going to stick with my way early prediction that Stevenson is neck and neck with Pearson. I know guys that saw them both play alot and gushed over Stevenson. They obviously thought very highly of Pearson but they really, really liked Stevenson...day 1 starter and game changer in CF like.

Stevenson is definitely better defensively and can hit for the same average. He doesn't have the same power but I think it is a close battle when you consider the defense.

In the Purple-Gold World Series, Pearson hit a ball that still hasn't landed.
