Usually the great ones demand excellence from everyone around them, because they demand it from themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some semblance of truth to it with Skenes, and it doesn't make him one bit an a-hole, or douchebag."

When the story came out I also thought it sounded curious. My eye test is that Skenes always seemed to be attentive, cheering teammates on, always one of the first out of the dugout to congratulate someone. You wanna get really granular: at times if a home run hitter got by him in the posing mob outside the dugout I would see Skenes follow and track him down. Now, he did seem to spend a fair amount of time with that chick in the dugout ha ha

Almost like the air condition helmets LSU is supposed to be wearing this year. The guy came in and videoed showing off the product but LSU never agreed to use them. The media saw this and ran with it like we were going to be using these this year. Guess the owner got a lot of free pub

If the PBP dude thought that it was cool if Skenes regularly tells his teammates that he outworked them, then he is the douche and likely has never played team sports.

According to JJ, Skenes was the best prepared he's ever coached. So of course he worked his butt off. Of course his teammates were aware of that. Of course it drove them to work harder. Comedy is funniest when there is a hint of truth to it.
On the other hand, Skenes piggybacking Milazzo is not the stuff you'd see Kobe, MJ, or Brady doing.

This just points out what incredible team chemistry the 2023 LSU Baseball team had.

The whole story is funny hearing Beloso say it but I think the media handled talking about it well - Basically said PS used it to better everyone around him, and not in a boastful or condescending way.
There is not a single soul on Earth who can question PS, his work ethic, or his leadership.

Skenes carrying Milazzo out onto the field is one of my favorite non-gameplay moments as a Tiger fan. Maybe there’s some recency bias but man, that was awesome.
It’s also kind of crazy to think Skenes was only here one season. When you see him with his teammates, and you hear stuff like this Beloso story.. you would think he had been playing with these guys for 3-4 years.
