Again, you're comparing LeBron in his 15th year to Simmons in his rookie year. LeBron had no outside shot his rookie year either and was known for not taking over games in the final minutes for the overwhelming majority of his career.

If you put LeBron on the worst team in the NBA, Phoenix Suns or any other bad team, for next year they would at least double their victory total and you would see great improvement from all of their players. Simmons would certainly improve any team, but he is always going to require another star player.

Don't get me wrong, every Batman needs a Robin to truly achieve their greatness. I think Simmons will always be that second guy and I really believe that's where he wants to be and pretty much any star player would love to have Ben Simmons on his team.

So a player in his 15th year on the back end of his prime would be better than a rookie. Hot take.

It's hard to say. Their games are so different and their demeanors too. The way Lebron took over the final two plays of that game last night sums up why Lebron is probably the best to ever play the game.

I think Simmons is having a similar impact in his first year in the league (first year actually playing). He's taken an abysmal Sixers team to a first round sweep of the Heat. That's great. And everything is facilitated through him. So, we'll just have to see. He could be the best when it's all said and done.

I don't think that's correct, but even if it is, Lebron certainly had SOME jumper and could score outside the paint.

Simmons has zero jump shot. Not just from the perimeter, but virtually anywhere outside 8 feet.

Will be interesting to see if he can go from that, to a consistent mid-range threat.

There's no question that LeBron had a better jump shot than Simmons as a rookie. But, his range was 15 to 18 feet max. At the same time though, Simmons' low post game and his ability to play with his back to the basket is MUCH better as a rookie.

I don't expect Simmons to ever be as bulky as LeBron, but their builds as rookies are quite similar.

He had no outside shot? What? He shot 29% from 3, which isn't bad, but lets not kid ourselves. It wasn't 0% like Simmons.

His second year he shot 35% from 3. He shot 36% this year. His career average is 34%. His shot has always been what it is. His career average at the FT line is 73%. 75% his rookie year.

To say that Lebron had no "shot" is a bit absurd.

Now Simmons on the other hand? He has NO outside game and I seriously doubt he will develop much of one. Half the time he is shooting jumpers left handed, the other time he is shooting them right handed. If he gets that under control , MAYBE his FT percentages go up, but I doubt he will ever start shooting 3s at a regular clip.

You guys really need to stop with this Simmons will be better than Lebron shite. It will never happen. Ever.

Lebron is 3-4 years away from wrestling the GOAT title away from Jordan. Simmons will be great, but he won't be the GOAT.

29% is in no way considered good in the NBA, but there's no way Simmons could have done that this year.

Saying he had "no" shot was a bit of hyperbole and I could've phrased better.

I never said Ben would be better or he won't be better. There's no way to know. Players come in with shooting problems and get better all the time.

My thing is people keep comparing the players based on this year, not their rookie years.

If you compare their rookie years, it says the same thing lol.

Ben Simmons - 0% from 3 / 54% from the FT line. he didnt take one.

Lebron 29% from 3 / 75% from the FT line.

Lebrons Major Rookie Stats - 20.9 PPG / 5.5 RPG / 5.9 APG
Simmons Stats - 15.8 PPG / 8.1 RPG 8.2 APG

The difference in the 2 is simmons is probably averaging what he is going to average going forward. Maybe he gets up to 20 PPG, but thats his ceiling I think.

I didn't mean comparing their shooting, I'm talking about their overall game and even on what their impact would be if they were both on a different team noe. They were both very good rookies and we will just have to see how Ben develops. But, to say that he absolutely can't become an all time great is crazy to me.

Yeah I’ll give you the early part, but the kid is taller than Lebaby and is quick as hell!

And Lebron is built like a 6'8 3-4 linebacker and can defend 4's and 5's in the post or the paint. He also had a better jump shot in the 9th grade than Simmons has as an NBA player. LeBron has had to carry the scoring burden from Day 1 in the league. Simmons may naver have to do that in his career. Simmons may may end up being better than Magic but there is no way he will ever be a better all around player than LeBron James. 'Aint happening.

By far the biggest differnce in trying to compare their rookie seasons. Simmons has a much better surrounding cast. They both pass the ball so well, but Simmons averaged almost 3 more assists per game because he plays with better players.

Simmons can't play the defense LeBron did and LeBron couldn't do what Ben can do in the post and he can do it on both sides of the floor.

Ben is 3 years out of high school. LeBron was good at pretty much everything by Ben's age.

Simmons only has 1 more year of playing experience. LeBron's rookie year was 2003 and he went to Miami in 2010. He developed his post game and being able to play with his back to the basket the summer before his second year in Miami. There was a big fuss about because he did after they lost to Dallas. LeBron still wasn't good in the final 5 minutes of games at that time either. The guy is great, but he's had time to develop his game.

Their stats are similar, but I was only 5 years old then and don't remember him until later in his career. My all time favorite player though. The guy was just a magician.
