I think the SECCG win vaulted us to the game, not the VT win.
I pretty sure substitute a weak BCS or a solid mid major team with VT on our schedule that year then USC or OU or VT makes the NC game.
LSUMatt probably can confirm that VT be strong is the reason we got in.

quote:I have not been beating around the bush. As I said from the beginning, fans would love to see these games, but it would be dumb for an administration and coaching staff to schedule these 3 teams in the same season. The point is we already have WV on the schedule, the rumor on the rant was UNC and today its Boise State. My point is (and always was) that there was no way all 3 teams were going to be scheduled OOC in the same year.
I have complete reading and comprehension skills, its you that is severly lacking and that needs to quit beating around the bush and say what you mean the first time instead of one post here and one post there later in the thread and that is exactly what you did...did I say we would get all 3 in one season? No...do I think its suicide like you and some others, no...suicide would be UWV, Virginia Tech and OU or Texas or USC...all top teams from BCS conferences...
And considering in most years, big BCS opponents are scheduled years in advance, it could be suicide. You just don't know, which is why you can't schedule like that and compete for a NC.

Given the current dominance of the SEC in NC games, I feel really really confident that a No loss/1 loss SEC team will trump a No loss/ one loss any other BCS team (USC may be the only exception) as long as that SEC team schedules ONE BCS average OOC opponent.
Though I know it sucks to pay full $$ to see LSU play Directional Schools and/or Tulane, but if as a fan your ultimate goal is winning the NC and NOT getting the most bang for your $$ then scheduling more the 1 BCS OOC is out of the question.

This is off topic but in 2011 we only have 6 home games with over a month of no football in TS.

can we play on the blue field in boise?

BSU, UNC, UWV, UF, UGA, Ole Miss, Arky, Auburn, Alabama all in the same year? You don't really know much about football scheduling do you?
As a fan, these are great games to watch. If you want to compete for and SEC and NC, you don't do this.

An SEC team doing a home and home w/ BSU?
I will say that Oregon has picked up a lot of respect points for that move.

PouchyTiger, were you able to confirm that this was reported on the local radio?
What is BR radio anyway?

In other LSU football news, it is almost certain that LSU will be playing North Carolina on Thursday, September 02 to open the 2010 season...from dandy don.
Thursday Night?
Thursday Night?

Fresno State, another team that says we'll play anyone, anywhere, at anytime, came into Baton Rouge in 2006 and we sexually exploited their mothers on the field. So I doubt big bad Boise State wants some of this.

I respect BSU's program, but if they came down here in September in the heat, IMO we handle them the same lopsided way UGA did a couple years ago.
BTW...BSU >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fresno St.

agree....but no FCS teams.....even if they are good its a laugher on the national stage

When you dominated Fresno, was the score kinda like this?
LINK
Of course you realize, when BSU played Georgia, BSU's QB was personally responsible for 6 turnovers in the first half. Kinda hard to make a good showing when you have such a key player lay such a big egg.
Not that Georgia didn't have something to do with that . . . but I traveled the 2,000+ miles to go to that game and saw the debacle.
BSU just beat Oregon (who finished 2nd in the PAC-10) at Autzen stadium, a place repeatedly on top 10 toughest places to play lists, so I know they have it in them.
I'd love to travel to Death Valley to have a shot at redemption.

We don't play UGA in 2010 unless we play in the SECCG.
Just sayin.

Pretty funny that a guy making excuses for a loss at GA due to QB play, turns and cites a game where Oregon was forced to use their 3rd, 4th and 5th string QB's.

If we're a power team in a premier conference we shouldn't be scared of some good mid-majors. I wish we would do this every year
Is UAB a mid major?
