Nola never wore football cleats for baseball

Nola is twice the defensive SS Bregman is

Nola got to more balls, made the routine plays like easy, and had a stronger arm.

Bregman will be a much better hitter; he is not really a shortstop.

Too small of a sample size, but Bregram is on track to be the better hitter. He may make the routine plays at SS, but he's got a ways to go to be near the defensive player NOLA was.

No need to bash any aspect of either's game. Both great players.

You felt the need to post that the moment Bregman drives in the winning run? Really?

They are not even remotely close.

Bregman has the better bat and fields about the same and has an absolute cannon. He doesn't have the control to first Nola did though.

Regardless...I would rather have Bregman as a Freshman than Nola as a Senior...and it's not even close.

I would rather Bregman also. I just don't know if Nola had the confidence at the plate that Bregman does. I just hope it last. That will be key.

Bregman is a first round draft pick without his injury. Nola couldn't even dream of being a first round pick.

After his Junior year..barring injury, Bregman will be a 1st round pick.

even as a FR, Nola changed the whole dynamic of the team when he was eventually inserted full time.

yeah but he batted 9-hole bro.

Fielding definitely improved. Honestly can't remember for sure who was SS then. LeMahieu?

I am talking about how he played defensively & how the team as a whole came together after that.. it was the turning point of the season. DJ was the SS and moved to 2B

Nola had 13 errors his Junior year and batted .296 with 2.HR and 46 RBI....lets see how Breg does his Junior year. I'm gonna guess it will be considerably better since his freshman numbers will most likely be much better.

I think it is possible Alex Bregman is a better ALL-AROUND player right now than Austin Nola ever was.....And believe me Nola was a stud for the Tigers and a helluva player.....

Not for nothing but the story goes like this...

Alex Bregman was only going pro if he was drafted in the first round, once it passed, he tweeted he was coming to school. However, he was approached by a MLB team, probably by phone, for a last minute pitch to be drafted in the second round but he refused. Stated that he was coming here.

So he is technically a second round MLB draft pick, out of high school.

Nola went undrafted and worked his way into the 20's, i think.

Bottom line, it is six in one, half dozen the other. The differences, as of now, are minimal. Ask that same question in three years.

Now Nola and Sciambra is a much better comparison.

Nola should not really be mentioned in the same breath as Bregman ...a real insult to Breg. But Nola better than Sciambra IMO...even though I know Chris' dad Jay.

By the time he leaves LSU, Bregman will no doubt be better than Nola
