That's the whole point Pirate, there isn't anything clearly better than what we have. Why take someone mediocre when someone else could still enter the portal later.
We're going to have four TEs after Lewis, we don't need bodies we need someone actually good
So does the staff NOT think that Mashburn could be a very solid TE?

If there is one school in the country that should understand what can happen in the 5th year of a QB’s college career, it is LSU.
Fans complain that guys leave to early for the NFL. College prepares these guys. Nuss may be a flop. He may not play year 5. He may transfer and play year 5 somewhere else, but to not understand why the option of year 5 is a good idea is insane.
Joe is the best example of that, all day, every day! Matt Flynn was a great example, and I believe Brennan will be a great example also!

Yeah you're just spouting off shite. Kevin Faulk was just at LSU last week giving a press conference fwiw. There's no bad blood between him and LSU
Who was the person on here that was saying faulk said kelly was a racist?

Yeah, Nuss has that "it" factor so much that he was worried about his 5th year of college ball options.
Joe burrow redshirted
Was he worried about his 4th or 5th year?
Y'all sound so dumb when shitting on nuss.

Well my statement had more to do with the preceding comment in the OP than a a 5th year argument.
Nuss has zero shot of overtaking Brennan this year. None. (this is not a shite on Nuss argument).
If he did, he would not have opted out of the last part of the season last year, instead prepped for the bowl game and taking this year and holding off Walker in subsequent years.

-Nuss/Brennan debate for the next 8 months? Can Brennan hold Nuss off the whole year? Nuss could make the jump in year 2. Brennan is QB1 but that could change quicker than later per Jordy.

Nah. It was all Max's fault.
OL was steller when Brennan was injured?
Defense was also steller.

Burrow didn’t redshirt & pass up an opportunity to start a game, did he?
Burrows motive to redshirt also wasn’t to be able to have more eligibility for when he transfers, was it?

I’m sure that’s factual. If it’s anti Kelly we know you’re on it

Look if this board has taught us anything it’s that totally random posters are extremely reliable
So if some random guy that chalky claims he claims Faulk is saying Kelly is racist, I believe him.

This entire redshirt argument is asinine. You’re both right.
Yes, chances are good that Nuss redshirting helps Nuss more than it helps LSU. Yes, having (for example) 3 to play 3 is much better for a prospective transfer QB than having 3 to play 2. And yes, there’s a good chance that he bails if he doesn’t beat Brennan out this year or Walker Howard next year.
At the same time, it’s also true that LSU has utilized multiple 5th year QBs over the past 2 decades. Flynn, Lee, Mettenberger, Etling, Burrow, and Brennan have all played 5 (or 6
) seasons are LSU. You never know what might happen.
These things are not mutually exclusive. I would like all of our QB’s to be hungry for as much playing time as they can get, and I don’t love the idea of Nuss straight up refusing to play in the bowl. However, we don’t know exactly how those conversations went behind closed doors either. For all we know, Brian Kelly and Brad Davis might have been in complete agreement about not burning the redshirt after Orgeron mismanaged the roster during the regular season.
Regardless it’s a kind of tedious argument when both sides are arguing completely different points that can be true at the same time.

Wait nuss isn’t transferring?
How can this dude even show his face in the locker room after letting the team get destroyed in the bowl game? Call me crazy but he will never lead this team after that

You’re crazy. No one cares about that game.

How do you know that? That's exactly what he ended up doing.
If burrow didn't redshirt he would've only had 1 year here.
Might've never had 2019.

joeyb redshirted his FIRST year at tOSU because he didn't play. Simple as that. No ulterior motive. What benefitted him/LSU the most is that he was a grad transfer with two years remaining and eligible immediately. He didn't have to sit a year at LSU not playing.
