"No matter what happens, We'll always have Joe"
Posted on 9/23/24 at 3:06 pm to nicholastiger
quote:
One time a receiver complained to offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger that he'd missed a throwing session and then heard Burrow say to the other quarterbacks, "You guys can throw to him, because I'm not going to." The player wanted Ensminger to intervene. But instead, Ensminger chuckled and said, "You need to work that out with Joe on your own."
Wonder who this was.

Jimmy's watching when he hears a loud voice off to the side of him. It's an LSU player but he doesn't stare long enough to get an ID. He just assumes it's a receiver. He moseys on over, pretending he isn't trying to eavesdrop, and picks up that the player is blasting multiple skill guys for not being at the workout. He darts a quick glance over to see who it is, and his eyebrows raise when he gets a good look at the guy.
It isn't a receiver. It's not even an offensive player. It's Devin White.
This right here. It seems to me that Devin White was a huge factor in getting this thing to work. Your defensive captains paying attention to the Offense and holding them accountable is everything.

Did he stop wearing his LSU bracelet?

I think it was on his right wrist that he hurt. If you look tonight you will see that he no longer wears any bracelets on that arm.

Just read the article and many exciting memories from that season danced through my head.
Joe Burrow is that rare person that can bring out the best out of any team he is on.
We were all fortunate to watch him play. He is one of the legendary great ones in LSU lore.

Yeah I thought some of the quotes about Devin White were awesome.
Also I still laugh in disbelief a little bit every time I read about Burrow fighting Patrick Queen at practice.

What a great article. It never gets old reading about Joe and that 2019 season.

Last time I chucked the rock with Joey I had 3x the arm he had.
Of course that was at Ames High School games when his dad was a coach and Joey was a little kid.

quote:But then let's not forget it was Athletic Director Bob Brodhead that hired Skip, so really without Brodhed the 2019 season never happens.
Remember, it was Les Miles who brought Aranda to LSU, and it was Skip Bertman who brought Les Miles to LSU. So really, Skip Bertman is responsible for LSUs historic 2019 season. Would expect nothing less from the GOAT.

I've never seen someone live, eat and breath football like Borrow as a college student... Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady type focus and dedication.

Very good! Most I hadn’t read before

It becomes more and more apparent that Burrow was the true coach of that 2019 team, and the primary source of its work ethic, discipline, focus, and pursuit of excellence. Those traits evaporated almost instaneously when he left the program.

Great article. Thanks for sharing it.

Why do they let other team fans to come on here and down vote? 7 down votes. Really?

JOE BURROW sits in the back of the conference room as the meeting begins. His new LSU teammates are baffled by him. It's the summer of 2018, and they think he either doesn't quite understand how much they don't want him as their quarterback or that he really doesn't care.
always love to hear such details regarding the Tigers.
the way everything just fell into place, yet each player had to buy into the program to make it happen.
coaches as well.
really special.
thanks much to nicholastiger

Never been a DP fan but have to credit him with goosebumps when I read this quote. "If there was anybody who didn't think Joe was the baddest motherf---er in our program, they realized it that day,"
The funniest part was Orgeron called up pm and treated him like a pledge and ruined the guys Destin trip by making him facilitate the Burrow visit. And the dude got all pissy saying “this kid better win the heisman”

Surprised the writer didn’t mention Brady’s role more or “The Summer of 10,000 catches” that Brady implemented.
I’ve never seen receivers be as sure handed and make so many athletic catches as Chase and Jefferson.
We truly caught lightning in a bottle in 2019.

Been told by someone that regularly had JB over their house that he was very socially awkward.
