I'm just trying to figure why people think he is not a good safety. He's actually decent in coverage. This was his first full year at safety in 2 seasons.

He could seriously elevate his NFL stock with another year.

Sure he made mistakes, and at other times saved touchdowns by being in the right place, such as State and Arky.

CJ might not ever make it out of the minors.

3rd draft pick, he'll get at 2-3mil guaranteed money.

Chad won't play for long in the NFL if he keeps leading with his head/helmet. He's been doing that all season long. One of these days he isn't going to get up.

Only on the Rant: Chad Jones won't play a down in the NFL and has no future in major-league baseball. The limited innings he pitched don't mean a thing either. After all, the guy was money in the crucial SEC and super-regionals, and in the College World Series. Oh yeah, he also hit .348 before converting from OF to pitcher after football Spring practice.

I know a lot of you guys think Chad can play at the next level at one or both sports, but there's no excuse for you doubters to at least appreciate what he's accomplished so far. Jones and J. Mitchell are the only 2 players in college history to win a BCS Championship and an NCAA baseball national title. And they're two of three athletes in LSU history to play for nat'l. championship teams in 2 different sports.

Nice attempt there. He led with his shoulder on that play and if you cant see that then maybe the sec should hire you as a replay official.

To those saying that Jones will not play Major League Baseball, I say, not so fast.

He throws low-mid 90's from left side w/ 3/4 delivery. Has an excellent slider and even fast balls tail off. He did not pitch for like over a year then stepped in to the limelight and was very effective. To my knowlege he's never recieved coaching at the Major League Level. Looks to me like his starting point for major league potential is very high. So, is he going to pitch in next year's MLB world series, not likely. But make no mistake about it - he will get a chance. What he does w/ it will depend on the coaching he recieves and his progress. I think the guy has a brighter future in MLB than NFL. However, he can probably play in the NFL also. Recall that the Saints gave Meacham 2 years to develop and see what he is doing now.

he'll go in the 5-10th round...hopefully it wont be high enough money...but yes...lefty throwing 93 good breaking ball...has no tear on his arm...loves baseball....I bet miles ask manieri to play him in the outfield more so that he doesnt get drafted as pitcher...

Certainly in the first 4. Like I've said before, the young man has a child, is not into school and is ready for a paycheck ASAP. I think he goes to the NFL this year.

What is the rate of LHP who are drafted and never get a major league contract?

It's not like the NFL where you are drafted into a roster spot. It's a long road to the majors.

would rather see B Taylor and Hatcher at safety. Both looked better in run support and pass coverage than Jones. But Jones is a good athelete, may LB is his natural position because it doesn't seem to be safety.
