A great father figure would hold his kids responsible for their actions. Parenting is about raising responsible children, not being their friend. Perhaps his downfall was he was not a great father figure.

The offense was pure garbage in both of those games which eventually tired the defense out. No dline depth.

Two of Troy's touchdowns came on their first drive of each half. Worn out to start the game and the 2nd half?

So they pale in comparison to Miles’s, right?

Depends on which year/years you want to compare.

I think you missed the point.

If you want my opinion on Miles: He was great from 05-2012 but trended down his last 4 years and refused to make the necessary changes to compete with Bama.
My opinion of O: He sucked horribly through the 1st 4 games this year, but is trending up.

Over all it's too early to be certain on O, but Miles was most definitely flaming out.

O's accomplishments
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What are these?

1) Fired Cam Cameron
2) Fired Bradley Dale Peveto
3) Fired Dameyune Craig (recruiting coordinator last class - had a WR committed since the previous year and found out on signing day the guy would not qualify. Not a good WR's coach.
4) Fired Jabar Juluke - RB coach responsible for Derrius Guice going the wrong way and missing out on every RB recruit except one.

5) Extended Dave Aranda

6) Promoted Dennis Johnson (Meatball) who out-recruited Tom Herman for K'lavon Chaisson. He was and may still be the nation's #1 rated recruiter for the 2018 class.

7) Hired Tommie Robinson RB coach - the nation's #2 rated recruiter for the 2017 class. Has coached in the NFL as well as college.]
8) Hired Matt Canada OC - the only Broyles award candidate on the offensive side of the ball last season.
9) Hired Mickey Joseph WR - has life long ties to the New Orleans and Louisiana and has been recruiting the area for years.
10) Hired Pete Jenkins DL - Probably the most well known and acclaimed D-Line coach in football - college and pro.
12) Hired Cregg as O-line coach. He has coached in college and the NFL and has a super bowl ring. Has put players in the NFL via being drafted in the 1st round.

12) Took over USC mid-season after they had gone 4-7 in their last 11 games and with the exact same team - same coaches, players, staff, admin, etc and went 5-2 including a win over the #4 team in the country. Going from 4-7 to 5-2 at USC.

13) Took over a lackluster LSU team and guided them to a 7-2 record breaking three all-time offensive records with a TE's coach leading the offense. And now he has hired the only offensive Broyles Award candidate running the offense.

14) Has coached under and owns 4 NC rings with coaches who could be considered the best two coaches to ever coach in college and pro football winning titles in both - Jimmy Johnson and Pete Carroll.

15) Is he changing the culture of LSU football for the better as has been mentioned by several current and former players and outsiders alike.

16) Is known as a great recruiter.
He was named the 2004 National Recruiter of the Year by The Sporting News and Rivals.com.
In 2011, he was named the Scout.com/FOXSports.com National Recruiter of the Year
In 2011, ESPNU/ESPN The Magazine named him the top recruiter in college football (and third best in all of collegiate athletics)"
In 2012, Sporting News selected him as the nation's No. 2 recruiter.
Rivals.com ranked him as the second-best recruiter of the previous 10 years (2002-11).

17) LSU finished #7 on 24/7 and ESPN and #8 on Rivals after signing only 23 players and being the head coach for a matter of months. And this after Coach had shut down all on-campus recruiting during the fall semester including official visits even for committed players until a new coach was hired.

18 As first year head coach of LSU has a 9-3 record with an opportunity to go 10-3 with a top 10 finish in the rankings with a win against Notre Dame.

Sorry for the long post. Guess there is just a lot of information

Miles deserved to be fired...at the end of 2015. Orgeron would have never been hired if that was the case. Again, Miles needed to be gone. We didn't need to hire Orgeron and he did not deserve the job. I will pull for the Tigers however and will not bitch when we win like we have over the last seven games. If we beat Notre Dame I will be optimistic going into spring and next year's season until being pessimistic is warranted.

That's fricking sad. All Miles had to do was fire was his buddy Cam, take his hands completely off the offense and he would still be here today winning big.

Miles would hold a significant advantage! LOL!

BTW I would have never have fired Miles in order to hire Orgeron! If for no other reason than the buy out! We're paying two Coaches a combined 5 million a year with another ridiculous buyout for LSU to continue to be irrelevant. We could have kept Miles for 4.3million a year while reducing his buyout.

Let's kick this dead horse one more fricking time, because it hasn't been addressed in a few days.. Shall we? Here we go..

-Recruiting: Do we really need to answer that? Not sure where you came from or where you've been for -let's say- the past 20 years, but O has been known to be one of the best recruiters in the country.. for literally DECADES.. smmfh I'm astounded that you would even require this in our refutation.. Wait.. no I'm not.

-Talent/Player development: I don't expect O to be involved in developing all of the talent brought in. Maybe assist with the the D-line.. I thought it was common knowledge that the HC hires what they call "Position coaches" and Coordinators to do this job. I expect him to leave that to his coaches (which he appears to be doing a great job handling up to this point) I'm not understanding why you would demand this in the rebuttal, but whatever.. Here it is.

-Strategy/coordinator retention: I realize you were absent for the 25 years (at least in mind) while O was being labeled across the country as one of the best recruiters in college football, so I understand how you missed this one. O has mentioned in countless interviews, press conferences, etc how he has learned from his mistakes, always taking notes from the great coaches he's worked for.. assessing pros/cons, strengths/weaknesses, etc of being a HC- so he would know what he should/shouldn't do if ever given the chance to be a HC again. Considering the HCs he's worked for, and with the understanding that people DO learn from their mistakes and try to make improvements (unless you're Les Miles or half you knucklheads in tRant who can't read, comprehend, understand, retain information), I believe he has quite a bit of information to build around. I also think with the time he's spent as an interim coach, he's shown he can deal with emotions and manage a program in despair at the drop of a hat.

As someone already mentioned, he's set offensive records using a position coach as interim coordinator who hasn't been a coordinator in decades. ..Which means he had to fire the coordinator we had already- to do this. He gave Aranda a raise and made him an associate HC in hopes of having him stick around. Then hired one of the best/hottest OCs in the country to replace the deadbeat he fired. And so far he hasn't wasted ANY TIME replacing coaches who leave ..with other great coaches- I might add. Coordinator retention: Time will tell. But so far he's shown he's damn sure capable. Not sure why we're discussing this, either. I find it comical that this isn't even a stipulation for HC hiring, but you require it in this assessment for O's approval.

-Winning/Championships: Winning? Seriously??

9-3 <--there's a few wins..

Championships: Since when did winning championships become a prerequisite to getting hired as a HC? How many active coaches have championships? How many active coaches have been to the CFB playoff?

Most of the info you demanded in our rebuttal is totally useless when compared to 95% of the other coaches in CFB.

Allow me to blow your "championship" innuendo out of the water: Here's a little fun fact for you to stare at. Saban is the only HC in the playoff who's won a championship at a previous school as a HC. In fact, Saban is the ONLY HC in the playoff that even HAD HC experience before being hired as the HC @ Bama. None of the other HCs in this playoff had previous HC experience before being hired at their current jobs. I'll argue this point from another angle: How many Championships had Dabo won as a head coach prior to his hiring? How many had Riley won prior to being hired at OU? How many had Kirby won prior to being hired at UGA? But please, don't hesitate to throw that in your OP to prove your baseless point..

I hope this broke things down for you without the "emotion" you were so worried that people would include. Not like it hasn't been done numerous times in countless other threads since last year. Take a little bit of time out of your day and read a few of them.. It will be an enlightening experience for you.

On that note, search is your friend.. use it. Stop regurgitating the same tired God damn bullshite. This issue has been drug around the Rant since before O was even hired as the HC, and is still recycled at least once/twice a fricking week to this day. I'm sure you could've searched the topics and found the answers you were looking for. God knows there's plenty of them.

And spare yourself this false sense of accomplishment that you seem to believe your OP has given you. You haven't done a God damn thing that hasn't already been done at LEAST 1000 fricking times. What the frick makes yours so special?

Amazing. You give them undeniable FACTS that can be proven without bias or emotion, and they give you a downvote. Who's allowing emotion to control their conversation now? But THEY don't want YOU to use it in your post. smmfh

These fricking idiots don't want an answer. They just want to start another meaningless thread about a subject that's been run in the ground. They can't accept logic/reason/facts. They simply want to be RIGHT about something that's impossible for them to be "right" about.
