As Mark Twain said ... There are lies, damn lies, and then there are statistics. Paraphrasing: If Vegas used these rankings to establish betting lines, I would be a rich man.

Computer polls are retrodictive, not predictive. They measure what a team has accomplished, not what it will accomplish.

Thus, my use of the word "if".

For God's sake get over yourself asswipe.
And by win, I mean convince any dipshits that mattlsu's ego is smaller than seventy-two school buses, two all-purpose stadiums, and three galaxies combined.
His math is solid (gosh, it's junior high level math). However, he has an amazingly overblown sense of self-worth.

just me, take a hike. lsumatt is the official BCS guru for TD.com and there is nothing you can do about it.

Bit of an overstatement. I am not one thinking the sky is falling as I am pretty pleased so far but to include Vanderbilt and ULL in the excellent class is way overblown IMHO

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if ULL challenged for the Sun Belt this year and finished 7-5 (or better). But even then they wouldn't be anywhere near a top 40 team. Likewise, it is still hard to imagine UW doing better than 7-5 or 8-4, but who knows.

A man can have a great big ego and still be right.
Speaking of, you went through a lot of words to make a small point.

ULL is #40 in that poll.
It's a ranking not a poll. Ranking is unbias.

Sagarin Had us at #2, think Ole Miss was at #66, they had the SOS of 177
But waaaaay to early to put any weight on the computer polls. They all say they need multiple games played to get a true matrix to compare teams.

I think Alabama won the Colley national championship several years, adding to their "12 national championship" line.
