re: Could Wade be the Saban of basketball?

LSU will not do what it takes to keep WW if he is Saban- level successful. But keep in mind LSU is not a destination program for college basketball. If WW is really that successful, I can see him taking over one of the all-time great programs once their coach retires, e.g. Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, etc. LSU could never compete with that.
Sorry! This comment is the definition of a defeatist loser mentality.

If your talking active coaches in college basketball, Coach K and Saban are close to having parallel careers to date in their respective sports...
If your talking all time, it has to be John Wooden.
Wade has a long, long, way to go.

The record this year at this point of the season isn't materially different. The Wade hype is like the Orgeron hype - a lot of big talk generated by a hatred of the former Coach.

I can't believe something this bizarre was actually put into words on the rant

Stop talking. You make yourself sound dumber by the post.

I don't want Wade to become the Saban of basketball. I want him to become LSU's version of Adolph Rupp! (And I also want us to sneak up and beat Kentucky on 01/03/2018.)
I was lucky enough to have been sent from my home in Atlanta to Lafayette last week to cover a couple warranty issues on a project we had completed in October. On my way back to the ATL I stopped off to see that beautiful fellow named Mike VII. It was good to see him, but it was also good to see a couple of Wade's former players from VCU hanging around Mike's habitat late Tuesday morning. They were first time visitors to LSU's campus and were really enjoying seeing that tiger. But the reason they came for the game was because of their love and respect for their former coach. Both of them were really excited to see their former coach have an opportunity like this at a major university and both of them had already purchased, and were wearing, new LSU Basketball shirts.
Coach Wade is dearly loved by his former players, and in talking to them I learned that they believe he'll be greatly loved by LSU.
Who knows? Maybe we'll see a revival of basketball fans like we had in the 1980s and we'll see the return of that crew (krewe) once known as the "Front Row Lunatics" at the PMAC.

Min think he can be as great as he recruits. He has that it about him when coaching the kids. He is always a step ahead of situation. Also if he keeps that inner fire he has watch out SEC.

Yep. You can tell the age of lots of posters based on their perspective of this topic. LSU can absolutely be a basketball school where the arena is packed and people support it in a big way. Now if a Kentucky or duke comes in and says we will pay you 7 million a year or something then yes I doubt we'd match that for basketball but just to say we can never be a big time basketball school is typically pessimistic of the younger crowd with no historical perspective

I've noticed many similarities. Hope he can accomplish in basketball at LSU what Saban has accomplished.

People should just stop with the Wade predictions. Some of these same people who are saying how much better Wade is than Jones, were the same ones talking about how much better the program was going to be when LSU brought Johnny home and got rid of Trent Johnson. Just wait and see where they are. Even putting Wade in the same category as Saban is comical at this point.
