I know you're pissed about not getting Jimbo, but who else after Herman & O that was possibly attainable should we have seriously looked at? Stoops maybe?

There was about 10 mid range coaches that didn't really have much upside. O was the "safe" hire. Pay him less - He doesn't work out, you cut him loose in 2-3 years and see what the pool looks like then...Talent will still be there.

Honestly as much as I love my school and program, Lsu does not have a good basketball program. Kermit knows this and was here w Brady. I don't think he will be our next coach. Great guy though.

Gundy? Mullen?

Attempt to get chris Peterson

If they dont rush the hire, they may have found out chip was getting let go, and we could have kelly right now.
Gary patterson
Pj fleck

Hell, anyone with a successful head coaching record at the collegiate level.

Should have paid him way less. We only gave him money to make it look like he was worthy of being the head coach at LSU. So what if the head coach makes less than the defensive coordinator. The DC is the better coach.

That buyout is ridiculously bad.

But he really wanted the job. He bleeds purple and gold.

Except for all the years he spent negative recruiting against LSU.

What head coach not at LSU doesn't recruit against LSU? More specifically, why would any head coach in the SECW want LSU to get good recruits?

You would have hired someone with zero HC experience based off of one year with a senior laden defense? Brilliant.

about as brilliant as hiring a guy that was an utter failure once already in our conference and has never even coordinated a defense. Right that was soooooooo much smarter.

1 aranda has never failed as a head coach, orgeron has. Not saying he would be even close to the top of my list, but higher than orgeron (note that he held a higher position than orgeron at lsu last year)
2 it wouldnt be based off of one year. Its clear listening to him speak that he is very football intelligent, and has had top 10 defenses at every stop he has been at.

True, but Aranda & Canada are top tier and will be allowed to do their jobs, finally. O turned USC's season around after Kiffin was fired and did a good job with the rest of LSU's season. O is not the same coach he was at Ole Miss.

Like others have said, we get O for cheap so we won't be held hostage with a Les-esque contract if he screws up.

You're just super pissed at Alleva. I hope O's success will calm you down. I'm just ecstatic that the miserable Les Miles is gone.

So what you are saying, is that every coach at every stop they are at bleeds their school colors? So it's not for just some magical love of a school that you never played for? The people supporting this program have been so gullible the last 6 months.

the interim job is just a different animal....In both cases as interim, O took teams what were more talented than their opponents and beat them. Cool....he didn't quite fare as well when on equal footing against the opposing team though. Building and sustaining a program is completely different than being the substitute teacher for a stagnant coach.

I expect him to be successful early, the long term outlook is the concerning part.

Just to clarify, do y'all really think the morning radio show has an influence on who LSU hires in any sport?

Many in this board think Alleva is an impotent puppet.

It's all a crap shoot. Can you say for sure that Herman will be a success at Texas? O will lose Aranda & Canada to head coaching jobs sooner or later. As long as he keeps hiring that kind of talent, no reason we can't be in the BCS dance mix most every season.

sure but don't you find that concerning? The fact that he has to nail each one at a 100% success rate?
