Without the 3s it is not fair to say curry wins. I do think he is better than Chris and very close to Pete.
For the record I have seen all three play and I like all of them

Lol at all the down votes. Take off the goggles. Nobody said curry is better than pistol. All they asked was is he a better shooter. The actual fact is yes. Curry is greatest 3 point shooter of all time. I know Louisiana can't really watch basketball especially NBA

Anyone who says Pete is a homer. Watch 3 of Curry's games. Literally any 3. He makes some of the best athletes in the world look awful. His shooting is insane.

Yes. And I don't think it's close at all.

Curry's current career NBA 3 point FG% is a point better than Maravich's overall FG%...and Curry's overall FG% is 30+ points better...and their FG% in college favor Curry as well...doesn't necessarily mean Curry is a better player but it's pretty convincing that Curry's a better shooter...

There is no way to knock Curry but all this "he's the best of all times" is based on what....2 break out seasons? Pete's records were built on an incredible college & pro career. Let's see Curry do this for 3-4-5 more yrs..and he very well could....and then let's vote him as the best ever.

Curry vs. Chris Jackson is a better comparison.

How so? Curry 3pt% is 10% better than Chris.

Without the 3-point shot, Maravich.
With the 3-point shot, Maravich.

I wonder of the people commenting on this actually ever saw Pete play... If you saw him play you wouldn't be asking the question. Pete GOAT pure shooter/ball handler of all time!

Curry's FT % is definitely higher.
When Dale Brown charted Pete's shots , did he calculate his 3p %?

I wonder how many of you commentating have watched NBA in last 10 years. Watch curry play one night and you'll shut up about shooting. Nobody is talking about who better although in NBA curry is still producing way more than pistol

This is just clueless.
He's been a lights out shooter since entering the league. Last season is currently his 4th best 3 point shooting year edging out 5th by .001

No one, nobody, will ever ever come CLOSE to breaking Pete's career scoring records in college.
In the NBA, Pete was really good, but never really lived up to what he could have been. He could have had a lot more than 1 scoring title. Curry may well do better if he stays healthy.

Defensive rules have completely changed in the NBA compared to when Pete and Chris played. You no longer can hand check players it's an instant foul now. The powers that be saw the offensive game struggle in the late 90's early 2000s and TV numbers started to dip so they changed the rules to give the offense the advantage and boost ratings. No hand checking, allowing the jump hop, and zone defense. IMHO I Don't think Curry's numbers would be near a good as they are now if he played before the rule changes.

Now you're just talking out of your arse. Stockton, Magic, and Nash were all better ball handlers than Pistol. That's not saying he isn't great, but just be honest and not a homer. And no I'm not referring to just passing the ball. They were better ball handlers in every aspect. Finding the opening, court vision, craftiness, pin point accuracy.

Pete Maravich - but it's close. Pete could literally hit at will from 20 feet in, if you never saw him in action, you just don't know how amazing he really was. I can remember seeing him as a kid when he played for the Jazz and when Truck Robinson was on taking up space and time in the lane, Pete was deadly accurate.
Curry is pretty amazing as a pro and he's a prime example of someone getting very good as he spent time in the pros. He was damned good in college, but he did not have the crazy range of Pete, he has developed it in the pros.
CJ/Mahmoud - he had the potential to be the greatest of all times if he had stayed another year at LSU. He was the total package. Great outside range. Great ball handling, very good rebounder and could dunk like a fiend for his size. His defense was not bad either. I though he needed another year with Shaq. Imagine the 1991 team with a more experienced Shaq being fed by CJ and Maurice Williamson - when sober, along with the option of Vernel Singleton. it could've been deadly and record setting!

I'm not interested in arguing this one way or the other, but maybe we should remember some things about Pete. These excerpts are from Mark Kriegel's biography, Pistol: The Life of Pete Maravich.
BTW, both these incidents were when Pete was still in high school.
That gym could get awful hot. But Jimmy, so much bigger and stronger, would relent to the fatigue before Pete. Another Saturday morning stands out among Jimmy's recollections: the boys had been on the court so long Jimmy was about ready to throw up. Not Pete, though. Pete still wanted to shoot his free throws. "We'll go when I miss," he said.
It would be 178 free throws before he missed. Jimmy would always suspect the 179th was for his benefit (89).
As the game wound down toward the end of its third hour, Pete invented a shot. He was fading to the deepest corner. The stairs to the dressing room, just beyond the court, led down from court level. "Going down," Pete called, as he threw up a high, arcing hook shot. He didn't stop to watch it swish through the net. He didn't even break his stride. He just kept going, right on down to the locker room.
Coker and Les ambled over to the bench and sat, speechless, shaking their heads, wondering if the show they had just seen--the finale of which they would call the going down shot--had really happened. Finally, Coker spoke: "Les, you ever see anything like that?"
Les shook his head no. "I think that was the best performance I've ever seen."
Coker wasn't arguing. "I think he might be ..."
Les was nodding now.
"Might be the best who ever was." (102)

That's just wrong, clearly from a guy who has only seen highlights and not Pete in person. I think Curry may be a better pure Shooter, but no one was a better ball handler and passer than Pete. Ask the NBA players who played against him, and they will tell you no one has been better.
