Is this story accurate:

In the wake of LSU wide receiver Demetrius Byrd’s major car accident that has left him hospitalized in stable condition at Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit, the NFL draft prospect is now able to respond to people’s voices, squeeze hands and can blink on command, according to LSU receivers coach D.J. McCarthy.

So is the prospect for full recovery the prevailing view of the medical professionals?

my prayers are sent to D. Byrd and his family, and this just goes to show that it is just a game, and that this can happen to anybody at anytime....God Bless

You misunderstood me, somebody else reported that there were only bumps and bruises that is what i could believe you could walk away w/bumps & bruises after your car was totaled.

LSUsports.net, is reporting this morning that Byrd is in stable condition and will have a full recovery. How are we getting so many different reports?

depending on the value of your car, by definition your car is totaled when the damage costs more than the value of you car; i could easily walk away because my truck ain't worth a thing anymore, but i highly doubt byrd was driving something quite as value-less as me
i figured if he had truly had a blowout that caused the accident, it wasn't gonna be pretty.
i guess in a way you could walk away from that type of accident; it was just highly unlikely; i had a good family friend, she was blindsided, her car was totaled, she was fine, responsive and then just went into shock, was unconscious for several days, so again, she was for the most part, bumps and bruises, but there was still SOMETHING else there, you know
either way, i'm glad he is starting to really respond to those things and wish him nothing but the best and a speedy recovery and my thoughts and prayers are still with him and his family obviously

That's a pretty ignorant thing to say.

I've been in 2 different accidents were multiple new cars were totaled, and everyone has walked away with bumps and bruises. One was leaving a saints game and our back wheel was touching the front wheel. 3 cars were totaled but everyone was fine

I had a guy turn in front of me on a 45-50 mph road.
He hit me head-on, I then bounced off him and hit a telephone head-on.
The car was totaled.
After going to the hospital and being checked out by the Doctor, I literally could have just walked away. I had one tiny scratch.
The key could be the seatbelt. I was wearing one.
The other guy was not, and he had massive internal injuries. Not sure if he lived or died.

I just threw this together, I suggest everyone change their sig pic to this picture and sig line to some inspirational words for D-Byrd! All of us enjoyed his time at LSU and we should show him this little bit of support when he needs it most!

Why would Miles use the word "tragic"?
Leads me to believe that the initial reports about it being just bumps and bruises are incorrect.

in all seriousness, I hope he pulls through all this and comes out good as new.

something more than "bumps and bruises" obviously happened.

Amen brother, prayers sent
And Chicken, you know Coach Miles, he has a thing for adjectives and not always using the correct ones; but if what PFT is reporting is semi true, there's definitely more than just a few bumps and bruises. I've been to hospitals way too many times for family members, they don't just put you in the ICU for nothing, and they surely don't keep you there for just nothing.
