quote:Chris Landry stated this exact thing on his tv show. Chris said he has personal contacts very high up at Michigan (has stated he's personal friends w/ Lloyd Carr before) and he said Les was definitley NOT offered the job in 2010. Take it for what its worth.
I talked to a guy who was in the meeting. They never offered miles the job, apparently mes made some anti loyd Carr statements and pissed off some of the high ups at Michigan. Additionally the ad is a money guy. Why would you hire miles for 4 million a year when you can hire an entire staff for the same amount? It's great PR for people to speculate that miles turned down Michigan but the fact of the matter is they never offered him the job.

If Michigan had not wanted Les last year why would they have spent so much time sniffing around him? Makes no sense. They wanted him and he realized what Saban never could, this is a talent rich environment and the sky is the limit, so why leave.
In 2007 he might have gone if Herbie had not spilled the beans and he had lost the SEC CG.
I was an early and frequent detractor of Miles, now I think he is the Skip Bertman of the football program, the best thing that ever happened to it.
Saban was good for us, he got the ball rolling uphill, but his failure to make a life commitment to LSU cost us many recruits, Oher for instance. If not for his reticence we could have had better teams.

Isn't he big buddies with this Krysant(sp?) character that guarantees stuff that doesn't happen?

Don't all broadcast personalities have close persoal friends that feed them the inside dope? Like Herbie?
In situations like this there are offers and then there are OFFERS. Most of it is done behind the scenes through agents. All in all it turned out well didn't it?
I mean for LSU, not so much for Michigan.

Miles doesn't seem to be the type of man who allows others to make his decisions for him.
I really think Miles gave up his dream job for that one game that he and his team was about to play. Call me silly, but i do believe that he would be that much of a team player.

That sounds very reasonable. There were no doubt serious negotiations going on. Herbie just jumped the gun by trying to create a story rather than reporting one. Miles would have been foolish to not listen to his alma matter but he is smart enough to have not agreed to anything until the end of the season.

quote:Really? Was it less far fetched than that "other" other story, that this was just like the eleventy-billion other stories that ESPN has run with that were complete bullshite?
Much less far fetched than the only other story I've heard which was someone claiming to be Desmond Howard texted Herbie and Herbie didn't feel the need to get better confirmation before going on National TV and blabbing.
"Miles to Michigan!"
"Texas to the Pac-10!"
"Oklahoma to the Pac-10!"
"Everyone to the Pac-10!"
"Big XII disbanding!"
"Miles to Michigan again! (for realz this time!)"
"Oklahoma to the Pac-12 again! (for realz this time!)"
"Big XII disbanding again! (no, really, we swear, c'mon guys, pleeeeaase won't somebody take us seriously?"

When people found out where I was from, the first question I got asked up here was "Do you think Les will come up here?"
Trust me they wanted him.
