he needs real talent before you can make an honest call, this roster is good, not very good or great.
they play hard. not sure if we will really spend money while he is here though to evaluate.

MM seems like a genuinely good person and in a different situation may be a good basketball coach. It has not worked here for a number of reasons. Some of those were out of his control, but many of those were not. There is nothing that gives any hope that he can get this program back to the NCAAT on a consistent basis.
Things are starting to move towards either a mid-season termination or an obvious post-season termination. Given the current LSU administration (academically and athletically), I would anticipate a mid-season termination once we hit the 10-loss mark (maybe sooner if we have another South Carolina -like home performance).

No one really knows because he doesn't engage much with the public. I think at most we can say he's probably not a bad guy.

in a world where he could stack HS signing classes and get a roster of experienced upperclassmen playing in a system they've been a part of for 3, 4, 5 years, maybe. But that is not the world that exist anymore.

Largely because he hasn't wanted to, or simply can't adjust to the new world of college basketball. You look at a guy like Rick Pitino. One of the best college basketball coaches of all time. He was a great recruiter and developer of players. But he said recently he'll likely never go into another living room again to recruit a HS player because that's not how things are done anymore. It's not his preferred way of coaching/roster building. But it's what is required now. So he's adapted.

I think the default coming into the season was a post-season termination was happening unless LSU had a truly remarkable season. That's because the people who saved McMahon last season are no longer in charge. I didn't, and still don't, 100% believe a mid-season firing will happen. But it's not unrealistic to think that by the end of January LSU could be 0-9, 1-8, 2-7, and in last place (again) in conference. That might prompt a mid-season firing just for PR reasons to give what is left of the fanbase some assurance LSU does care about basketball.
