Congratulations to a fine young man and good luck in your career in the NFL. This should open the door wide open for Devonta Smith to commit to LSU once and for all!

All the best to him. We will be watching for him on Sundays!!

That being said, I think he would have made more money if he stayed one more year in college. Could have almost doubled his contract if he went in the 1st round in 2018 rather than a 3rd round pick.

I remember what the Wisconsin coach said about him before the first game- he's a 6'4" reciever that plays like he's 5'10". Catches balls low and not physical at all. He'll struggle in the league, but good luck to him.

He's gonna get killed in the NFL. Kid can't get off the line and has no clue how to go up for the ball,.......

Congrats though, he'll make some major 3rd round money we'd all be jealous of....

He basically decided to make about $600,000 per year compared to about $5 million per year potential if he came back for the next season. How could anyone make that poor of a financial decision?

I would rather we have less celebrated receivers who catch consistently, than ones who are either fast decoys or ball-droppers too often. But somewhere in-between was MDupre. Best of luck in the NFL. May this be a win/win for us all.

He's 21 years old and it is time to go to the league. The CBA in today's NFL creates a situation where the second contract is the lucrative one. Waiting one more year with a new head coach, new offensive coordinator, possibly new QB, potential for a career ending injury, etc stacked the deck for the reasons as to why it is time. Dupre weighed risks versus rewards and decided it was time to go. The guy was a model student athlete from what we all know and loved his time at LSU.

I say good luck Malachi and

He was never going to make $5 million a year on a rookie contract.

care to show your math on that one?

he's also 1 year closer to that 2nd contract, which is where players make their money. Not on a rookie deal
