Well, that makes a lot more sense than just saying he's correct. You're right though, people confuse that and thinking that an RPO offense requires a dual threat QB. Sure, it helps to add that extra dimension, but it's not essential.
Yeah I probably should have explained that better the first time around.

RPOs are also very different in the NFL based on how far down field they can black

Yes. The blocking downfield makes it a much more lateral attack in NFL. It’s slightly more vertical with slants and skinnies in college, and in high school it’s damn near down field.
You have to commit to the offense and trust the Quarterback.
Also, the only way to stop it is to disguise zone coverages or to play straight man and extend the routes

How do you defeat the RPO? With a drop linebacker. Lou Tepper was ahead of his time

Good job "coach". I'm sure your little league team benefits from your vast knowledge.

So if teams choose man to man our wide receivers can really flourish on short to medium routes considering Jeffersons ability to find space and the potential of the young talent that is on campus.?.

Nick Foles ran the rpo for the Eagles and did a great job with it. Nick is not a running qb, but way more athletic than folks give him credit for. Of course Nick’s real strength is between his ears, a must for the rpo. That and he is 6’ 5” tall with an NFL arm.
As an interesting aside, Nick would likely have come to LSU if offered. He wanted to go to Texas but they did not offer. His dad and I are old friends and sat together at the game on Nicks recruiting trip to LSU. LSU offered Jarret Lee instead. Nick went to Mich State and then transferred to Arizona. Imagine how good that LSU team would have been with Nick.
I like Burrow for the rpo. You have to be smart and make quick decisions. And it’s not like the other team doesn’t know your reads, so they will bait you and disguise their line up. That’s where it turns into a cat and mouse game. You have to have good instincts and think fast.
Like a lot of offenses, it depends a lot on execution. It can help hide poor offensive line play, the ball comes out fast before the defense can get to the qb. It might have helped last year against Bama where their defensive line outmatched LSU and took the game away from Burrow.

A lot of tards on this board confuse the RPO with the read-option.
most tards here do not know the difference between a zone read and a power read, or a 9 route, a 3 technique, a B gap or what a counter trey is.

It's cool how the HC knows the offense better than anyone on the team.
I wonder if it helps the team that he is so good on that side of the ball?

As I stated earlier, I was agreeing with CDP because of the folks who think you need a running QB to run the RPO system. If you already knew about rpo’s, I wasn’t talking to you.

I don’t coach a little league team

power read
One of my favorites. We had a really athletic kid at QB and we ran it with power blocking at the line and buck sweep blocking from the receivers. I always love basing our stuff out of power looks.

Because sometimes it’s fun and funny to harp on things.

It’s all about a smart QB and the presnap read. No one better than Drew Brees

How many of you kids knew that Pederson played QB at NLU from 1987-1990? He followed Stan Humphries and the great Walter "Bubby" Brister.
