dude
it's really bad timing no matter how you want to shite on the kid

my position is that this was not handled in an ideal way, but sometimes shite just happens
i just do not want to hear tiger fans criticizing other coaches for similar handling of recruits
lsu/miles is just like everyone else. we are not on some higher moral ground

So, it's not really about Porter then. You people were going to be pissed no matter who was asked. Well, not all of you since LSUMafia has a pecking order based upon grades and timestamp of LOI.

The fact is. there isn't anyone on this board that knows how it all went down. So those saying the staff is wrong is in fact wrong themselves. Those who say porter is wrong is wrong themselves.
I posted yesterday a 2010 recruit was having cold feet. it happens the recruit i was told about is elliot porter. I was told it was big recuit. wasn't given the name. i was thinking z. lee due to him being the only player we could not afford to lose. i tried to see if anyone else could help with the info i received. it didn't work.
Since it was elliot. those who say he wasn't informed until yesterday is in fact wrong. Miles missed the t.a.f. function last thursday to meet with porter and his family.
At the end of the day. no one is wrong in this situation. if the players do not get qualified, people have an issue with the coach. if he protects himself by over signing and they get qualified, people have an issue with the coach.
e.p. was promised a scholarship. he still has it if he wants it. He was a candidate to r.s. anyway. this is the school he wanted to come to originally. yes, he has to wait 5 months. this isn't the end of the world. He still has the opportunity to play and to get a degree.
either way, e.p. is going to have to sit and wait where ever he winds up. he's not going to start for a major program from day one. therefore, why wait somewhere you originally didn't want to go vs waiting where you wanted to be? it's not how you get the opportunity that determines your fate/future it's what you do with it.

team that desperately needs depth
We have an 85 man roster the same as every other team. Last year we were at our 85 man roster.
If we "desperately" need depth, then that says that our recruiting over the past couple of years has been terrible, because we are putting kids on scholarship who arent capable of playing.
Or we are awarding scholarships to walk ons who dont really contribute.
So if this was all done because we "desperately" need depth it is still an indictment on the coaches past recruiting philosophies.
I support the coaches and wish them well. But we have some serious systemic problems within our football program that need to be fixed before the program begins to collapse within.

I still believe porter got screwed. this board always blows up if a la. kid goes to another school. porter is a la. kid who had a lot of good options and he chose to stay and play for lsu. he even agreed to change postitions when everyone else wanted him at dt. he did everything that was asked of him. he came in and worked out this summer.
the bottom line is doesn't matter if he was told yesterday or a week ago. he was told after NSD and after most other programs were at the 85 or 25 limit. HE GOT SCREWED. no he is not the first one to get a greyshirt.
the staff signed 27 guys so its their fault. everyone gives lm credit for get his entire class in school the last couple of years and now its like no one could have possible thought everyone would qualify. bullshite.
this is becoming the norm for this staff. the bates situation didn't go so well, we mismanaged the dexter pratt situation, do we still know if christine michaels had an offer.

Wasn't someone going to get screwed in your world? Where were you on signing day?

Have you been told since then that it was in fact E. Porter? Why couldn't you have told us yesterday that you didn't know who it was? That would have helped rather than everyone guessing all day long.

Exactly. You're all passing judgments one way or another about something you know nothing about except maybe through third party sources (more likely fourth, fifth and sixth party sources).
I don't have a problem when people criticize coaching decisions that we can see on the field or players who knowingly do dumb or criminal things, but this is ridiculous.
As a great coach once said, "You think you know, but you don't know."

if Zach Lee signs, Porter still gets a scholly.
Porter may want to wait and see, before he signs elsewhere.

+1, it is a no win situation....I'm just glad it wasn't Gore CLM was taking off to coax back on the team.
and SFP, please stop saying we no longer have the high moral ground! It is the last thing to go and that makes me

Obviously it doesn't matter what the coach does, your opinion will be the opposite/they screwed someone because you don't like the coach.
he didn't get scewed. he was offered a scholarship and he still has one today if he wants it.
What about A. Williams, what about the db from new orleans that broke his neck in high school and the coach gave him a scholarship knowing he couldn't play. you think he screwed them? what about d. graff?
at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how you get an opportunity. it's what you do with it. There are a lot of back up players, brady, warner, barber, j. vincent, who got their opportunity due to injury and took advantage of it. did the guy who lost his position due to injury, no fault of his own, get screwed?

positive.
I explained why i didn't say a name yesterday. i didn't want to be wrong and hurt a kid with mis information. it doesn't matter what i would have said, people would have guessed. i was trying to see if someone else had information that could help. appears i'm the only one who had or willing to say anything. I can't make everyone happy on how i choose to handle things/info i get. i understand this.
yes, i'm pretty sure it's elliot. I was told it was "big" recruit. he's getting cold feet and doesn't want to be with the team. Miles didn't go to the t.a.f. banquet so he can try and smooth things over. i know this is the reason he wasn't at the banquet.
the pressure may have come from ut/shaw connections.
