2. There are 2 spots in the NC and if enough teams lose, LSU will be the only legit team left

I feel like Alabama is the second best team, regardless of the rest of the season's outcomes, and I initially wanted a rematch. But, the fact that we would have to play a practical away game at Georgia to earn the right to play for the NC, while Bama sits back and rests, just doesn't compute.

It might be the best thing for those of us who would like a playoff, but as well as the system has worked for the SEC and LSU, I'm not sure we should want it changed.

LSU and OSU had the computers split.

I have yet to see this..link?

anderson/hester, colley, massey had Ok State #1, LSU was #1 in Billingsly, Sagarin, and Wolfe

LINK

When you look at the computers and human opinion polls I think Oregon and the OU/Ok State teams are both still at an advantage compared to Bama in one important way... important remaining games with which to raise their scores in teh computers (whereas Bama will have a hard time raising much cred against Auburn and their ooc opponent of note may lose 1-2 more)

I think Bama might be the second best team in the country but I'm not sure they have an inside track (even tho they would normally move up to #2 with Ok State losing)

matt, if Clemson were to win out (future wins over #12 South Carolina and #8 Virginia Tech) and win the ACC, where do they sit when the smoke clears?

I think it's going to take a lot for Bama to make the BCSCG.

That would include 2 losses by LSU and an Oregon loss. Bama will not make up ground in the computers and the pollsters will not like the LSU/Bama rematch as much as an LSU/Oregon rematch (if it comes down to those options).

The real deal is LSU versus...

1) OU/OSU winner (This is computers and OU has already been given a mulligan).
2) Oregon
3) Alabama

Alabama would need lots of help,

OU I can easily see...still don't see a scenario where OSU makes it back to the #2 spot though..I think Clemson is ahead of them barring a loss..

The idea OSU makes it back is because of two main reasons.
1. The strong computer ranking OSU will get.
2. A lot of voters will be willing to slide on OSU losing due to circumstances surrounding the game. ALSO the game was lost in 2OT (undefeated in regulation) and again it gives voters an out if they don't want a rematch for the BCSNCG. Clemson won't stay ahead long term if OSU beats OU since the ACC is considered weak compared to the Big 12.

IF OSU beats OU, which after watching them tonight is a HUGE if, I could see OSU getting some love...which is perfectly fine with me cause we would kick the living crap out of them...but not holding my breath..

Yeah, OSU would have to beat OU, tbh it'd be better to win by 10+ so they can really make the loss tonight look like a fluke. Not holding my breath either, but tbh I am pulling for them to beat OU, I go to school at OSU and my roommate is on the team.

I think you are right, If we beat Arky. If so, even a close loss in the SEC Championship and I believe we still play for the National Championship. How could we not. We would have the same record as Bama, and have beaten them head to head. And since they will probably jump to number one, we would be the obvious choice for number two.

downside would be that if undefeated LSU & undefeated OK ST played, there would be no BS about a team being left out....now there are definitely going to be people saying 'x' should have been in the game and the BCS champion is not consensus...

Oklahoma State would have been easy money for LSU.
So now the Crimson tide will get another shot at LSU with the defeat of Oklahoma State.
# 1 LSU - vs- # 2 Alabama...for the BCS National Championship Super Dome New Orleans,La.
The SEC will finely lose a BCS game. To another SEC team who will take the SEC BCS win streak to Five (5).

In my mind it didn't matter one way or the other. LSU wins out and they play for the NC. LSU drops a game and they probably are no more deserving than any other 1 L team that the BCS number generator spits out.

Great thread. I'm a little surprised you think the best Arkansas can do in the computers is about 5-6. I think in the event of having all one loss teams lsu would clearly have the best computer rank but all the others would be bunched fairly tight. I think the hogs computer rank would be higher than ou's after thanksgiving weekend with a hog win.
