We had season tickets back then and i remember in junior high school ( 94 95 i guess maybe hs a couple years later) finding old sports illustrated magazines with lsu in the top five rankings at the library.

I couldnt imagine what would happen in 2003.

It was an awful blowout, but it wasn't a bad game to attend because its not like we thought we had a chance. It's nowhere near as awful as the Purple Pants game. Or losing to Arkansas 42-24 to finish 5-6.

But I do remember that by the 4th quarter, we were practically the only people in our section. It happened because Curly sucked. And we all knew it.

Even though I had season tickets my daughter was born that Spring and that was going to be my only home game (big fight about me leaving for football, but that's an OT thread ).

Chilly that night maybe 60,000 at kickoff. By the end of the third there couldn't have been 35,000. One of those weird rememberances was some real fat woman evidently broke wind on the row in front of us and turned around with a sheepish expression. Somewhat of a perfect ending to that game.

I used to love Hallman's call-in show. I don't know what he made off that ,but he earned every penny.Brutal calls. I remember turning on WWL that Tuesday a little before 7 and Buddy D was going,"next up is the Cuhley Hallman Show from and undisclosed bunka in Bata Rouge." Hilarious.

And a month later that same team ended Alabama's 31 or so unbeaten streak in Tuscaloosa.

THE best part of that era. Well, aside from the Golden Flake potato chip ads.

That 1993 season was kind of insane. We had talent, we just had miserable coaching.

I'm not clicking on that. I don't think I could watch it.

one night some guy called in twice, once under another name and Curley told him to come meet him in his office so they could discuss his problem.

That show was just brutal. Usually a team could be 0-8 and all of the calls would be "coach,we love you." "hang in there, coach". Curley's had guys flat out telling him he couldn't coach, was a bum, etc. Not that they were wrong, but holy gravy, right on his own call-in show.

44-15 spanking

I remember Jabar Gaffney taunting the student section before the game. He and Rex Grossman backed-up their talk. That was brutal.

That was awful, but I hurt more from the reaming we took from Rex Grossman at home in 2001. People tend to forget that because LSU ended up getting into the SECCG at 5-3 in the SECW and face TENN instead of UF...but we got SMOKED in that game.

Not to point it out, but there were a few times under Nick where we got absolutely blasted...

Nobody forgets, they just understand for the most part. Florida was just a better team at that point in the season, had a more talented roster, and were a more established program than us. And they were ranked #1 for the first few games of that season. We were in year two of a rebuilding project, our time was almost here.

True for the most part but talent alone didn't explain the 2001 game. 2000,probably. But LSU was beaten like a drum in the 2001 game. Very poorly prepared and outclassed. I know you are one of Saban's knights here, but that 2001 game was pathetic job on his part. That team was no more prepared for that game than U-High would have been.

UF was damn good offensively that year and we sucked on defense for pretty much the entire year. I don't know if Gibbs was fired or wanted to go to the NFL or what but a change had to happen defensively somewhere.

Rex Grossman threw for over 3800 yards that season. They ran up points on a bunch of folk.
