That's the interesting part, as an analyst I don't think he will be involved in recruiting although the connections are there not only with Cali kids but also Polynesian kids.

No. From the USC coaches page:
quote:
Former USC All-American defensive end Kenechi Udeze, a first round NFL Draft pick and 4-year NFL starter whose inspirational story saw him overcome cancer that ended his playing days and led to a career in coaching, is in his third season (2016-18) as USC’s defensive line coach. He was named to the fulltime position in January of 2016.
In 2017, USC led the nation in sacks (46) and was fourth nationally in red zone defense. Defensive lineman Rasheem Green was an All-Pac-12 first team choice and was a third round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. USC played in the 2017 Cotton Bowl.
In 2016, USC allowed opponents to average for just 139.6 yards rushing. Defensive tackle Stevie Tu’ikolovatu was the Rose Bowl Defensive MVP and was an NFL Draft seventh round pick. He was named one of the nation’s Top 25 recruiters by Rivals.com following the 2017 signing day.
Udeze, 34, spent the 2015 season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at USC. He also assisted in the Trojan football office and for 3 weeks leading up to the Holiday Bowl he served as the team’s defensive line coach
So looks like he was on the USC staff from 2015-2018.

Yeah, I think it’s pronounced: “you-dee-zee.”
They would commonly say: “Udeze does it” when he was a player.

I hope so this meatball shite needs to come to a end.

If you get Big Kenichi Udeze (BKU) on staff at LSU, he'll be a damned good get. Great DL, kids love him, better human being. Beat cancer, intense, and just a likeable guy. Best of luck to him in P&G.

I make a motion to change the pronunciation then.

I am in no way crapping on this hire. I only have ever heard of him in this thread.
Concerns:
Hire smells like nepotism type of hire.
Can't stay in one place.
Does a west coast connection really help. We traditionally can't get west coast guys to come to Louisiana. If he can't close these deals his west coast recruiting time will be a bust.
Former great players doesn't mean he can coach.
I am NOT passing judgement. I know I don't know. This is just what comes to mind when I read this thread.

Says he's not crapping on the hire then proceeds to crap on the hire. If you read the thread you can see that he's qualified, the cali pipeline is real but even if it wasn't in place do you just not recruit an area because you haven't been super successful there in the past? No you double down and keep trying.
The nepotism angle is just silly.

Why do you gravitate towards the negative stuff?
There's plenty of people that said this was a good hire, yet you zero in on the minority that had something else to say about it.
You'll drive yourself crazy if all you ever do is focus on any dissenting voices.

Pretty sure it’s pronounced you-deh-zee or oo-deh-zee.
Wonder if he can help with recruiting Nigerian kids in the Houston area.

I don't think that my post is negative at all. I think that I addressed his issue with the hire and that you don't just give up when you aren't originally successful.

BKU is onboard... starts Monday.

So I was wrong in my previous post, he will be somewhat involved in recruiting. Thought he would be limited in evaluations only but that's not the case.
