i moved to ga in '83. born in alek. military brat. had a lot of family graduate and work at lsu. unfortunately for me i had to attend college in state. with that being said, i have remained a true tiger fan since '82. i know that being an alum brings a special tie with the school/team. i dont consider myself a drunk douche wearing jorts thats yaps about a sport he never played. i have driven and flown to b.r. for many games. ive sat through hallman and dinardo coached games. ive traveled to almost every s.e.c. venue to see the tigers play. i still consider myself a real tiger fan. what about a hippie, liberal douchebag that attends lsu and has a disdain for athletics and how much they "take away" from academics? it may be a very small drop in the bucket, but i support tiger athletics the best i can. anyone who has tickets that plans on leaving games early can mail me theirs.

So people are only fans if they attended lsu? What about all the people in the student section talking shite about lsu the whole fricking game? Attending the school doesn't make someone more of a fan than someone who grew up a tiger fan... I know children who know more about lsu sports than most students... I guess you can't be a saints fan unless you live in new Orleans...Your theory fails

amen. vince dooley went to auburn and pat dye went to georgia. pat dye is know as the quintessential "auburn" man and dooley has a house, statue and former position as uga athletic director. this isnt protesters and draft dodgers spitting on vets coming home from nam. "ive seen things you can only imagine. i fought for my country" just because you went to school there doesnt trump everyone else's opinion or support of an athletic program.jesus, what would these stadiums look like if only alums attended? so you went to school there. your proud and you should be. but you didnt spill blood and lose limbs in college. you dont know things others dont because "you were there". your theory holds no water.
-#1 tiger fan in georgia.

Take this for what it is, but I think that the most sour fans on here are the ones who didn't go to school at LSU.

With my time up at LSU and BR (except for Saturdays in the fall, and a few baseball games here and there), I left with some valuable things: a degree from LSU, and the experiences I had in BR.

When shite gets bad, I still think of all the good times I had, the good times I will have, and that wins and losses don't matter in the grand scheme of things when you are a bit tanked.

Nobody can take that from me...and therefore, it will always be fun for me.

IMO. the rantards are the bandwagon fans that came aboard after 2003 NC and expect LSU to win undefeated in everything all the time. Most of us older fans have seen the Archer, Hallman, and Dinardo years. We realize everything runs in cycles. I've always supported the Tigers in the good and the bad.

PS - fwiw - both parents are alumni as am I.

I agree...sort of. I have been an LSU fan my entire life. I am 23 years old and since I was 4, I have missed 5 home games in Death Valley during that span. The reason my attendence has been so regular is because my dad is probably the biggest Tiger fan I know. He grew up in Ascension Parish, but never went to LSU. My dad does not have a college degree.

I think that most sour "fans" claim to know a lot about football, but really don't. I see a whole lot of people talking about how close we have come to losing more games. I also see a lot of people talking about how we have barely won some of the games we have won. To me, its all the perspective you take on things. A bounce this way or that and we could have Won more games than we did.

But regardless, it will never become not fun for me to be a member of the Tiger faithful. Now that I am at LSU about to embark on my final semester and final Student Section season, I just wish people would realize how truly fortunate we are, to have such a great team to pull for!

And as always, I will do my part to fight to hold, the glory of the purple gold. I will always pull for my team like a knight of old.

What does fun have to do with it ?

Being a true Tiger isn't a choice any more than the color of your blood.

You either bleed Purple and Gold or you don't.

It's that simple !

I'd rather a thousand of these than one person complaining about how we suck and it isn't fun to go to games anymore.

If you're not having fun, don't go. It really is that simple

This....

If you don't enjoy being a fan go jump on what ever band wagon you chose.

Negatigers are simply not true fans....

I too get discouraged by losses but have never in my life considered not loving LSU and the joy I get from being a fan of one of the most tradition rich programs in the histroy of the sport.

I you can understand this :doublebird:

On a side note, if any of you negatigers don't want to attend football games, let me know and I will gladly purchase your tickets. I just graduated and the higher ups make it difficult for fresh alums to get tickets these days...

LOL @ the guy who said people who attended LSU are the only true fans.

You think because you went to school there and watched games in tiger stadium you're a bigger fan then me?

I've been an LSU fan since the day I was born (i know so because my dad's the biggest LSU fan i've ever seen and had me in lsu hats all the time)

Only problem is we live in kansas, and my folks never had the money to make a trip to see a game in tiger stadium... what does a true fan do? i tell you what they do, a true fan will sit in a truck, sweating his arse off at night to LISTEN to an lsu game, because they were rarely on national tv back in the 90's. And not only that, but because we lived in kansas, the radio station we had to pick up was from out of louisiana.

Listen to an LSU game for 3 hours with static coming in and out and then tell me im not a true fan lol.

It just so happens I'm about to graduate college with my networking management degree and once I get a job with a great salary I will be able to take my dad to a game in tiger stadium. It will also be one hell of an experience for both of us.

Go ahead and tell me i'm not a true fan. I dare you.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I'm not trying to take anything away from the people that actually go to school at LSU, I envy them lol.

But it pisses me off when someone tells me I'm not as big of fan as them because I didn't get to go to school there. That's all.

Umm...you are not a true fan?

I kid...I meant that the people who always say it's no fun and always get bent out of shape about EVERYTHING are ones who probably did not go there. True fans realize how lucky we have been...in almost all sports. Maybe 15 teams have been to 4 Final Fours. About a dozen have had the football success we have had. And in baseball, we are CURRENTLY unmatched, although historically USC can make a nice claim.

We have some of the best atmospheres for fans imaginable. We have some of the most awesome stadiums to visit, and traditions that fit in well.

Add in success in track, women's basketball, softball, etc...it makes it even better.

The univ. is set in a state with some of the most unique culture around, and is an hours drive from the biggest party in America.

Florida, Texas, and Ohio State might be the few overall athletic programs that could argue about being better, with emphasis on the major sports.

I love Louisiana. I love LSU.

All this, and I was born and raised in Texas...and am unfortunately back here working. Going to LSU was the best time of my life.

So...if you want to get pissy about Les Miles, the baseball team's slump, the poor hoops year we had, etc...then

I see it as this: You either look at a glass of water as half full or half empty. I was a student in the 90's and enjoyed every year of football since, even the 8-5 season.

You either are a fun person who loves football and will support the team through the bad years, or you are a pessimist/negatiger who points out the bad stuff even during the good years. A perfect example was a friend of mine who complained a lot during the '03 season. He is the type that will never be satisfied and will miss out an enjoying college football because of being so negative.

How many of you were here in the 90s and still thought it was fun to be an LSU Tiger. I know I still went to every game and enjoyed it for the most part. Yes I enjoy winning more, but losing doesn't make the atmosphere not fun. The games are still fun.

When we weren't good it was always like winning a Nat'l Championship when we pulled the upset. Not quite, but it was still crazy fun!

I was there, and yes, it was still fun. In fact, one of the most fun experiences I ever had at an LSU football game was in 1993, a horrible season overall, at Alabama.

In a bar before the game, I was talking to Alabama fans (they were about a 4-TD favorite going in) and told them "we'll be sure to take it easy on y'all today, we won't beat you by more than 10 points". We all thought it was really funny and laughed about it.

After the game (we won 17-13, holding off a late rally after leading 14-0 in the 3rd quarter), I went back to the same bar, talked to the same Alabama fans and said "I told you we would take it easy on y'all and wouldn't beat you by more than 10 points". For some reason, they didn't think it was as funny then as they had before the game.

Of course, the 2000s were more fun, but even shitty years like 1993 had their moments. Driving eight hours through freezing rain and snow to watch 2-7-1 Arkansas spank 2-8 LSU in Fayetteville in 1992, on the other hand...

To all those who feel tickets are too expensive, they can't take their family to a game, the teams aren't any "good", the fans are obnoxious, the coaches suck, it's not fun to be a fan, etc. etc., Please do not come out to tailgate any more so I can have a relatively close parking spot if I can't make it out to campus at 6:00 am!!!!

I swear, the people that bitch the most are the ones who contribute noting monitarily to the progam outside of buying t-shrits and caps and watch from afar

I hate to admit it, but I'm beginning to agree with the guy who posted several months ago that the real LSU fans are people who actually attended and graduated from LSU.

I totally disagree. I am a proud LSU alumnus. I wish that everyone could experience the great times I had while attending LSU. However, I am not so arrogant as to think that only those who graduated from LSU are true LSU fans. I appreciate everyone who roots for LSU.

I love to see the posts of people saying that Disney World was full of people wearing LSU jerseys and caps, or that they saw people wearing LSU caps in South Korea. Many of those people probably don't know where LSU is located, much less graduated from LSU. But, who knows, they could give birth to a future LSU Heisman award winner.

When it comes to fans of LSU, I say the more, the merrier. GEAUX TIGERS!
