He did occasionally play out of control and pick up silly fouls.
Saw this dude multiple times brick a slam dunk! He was very goofy on the court. Matter of fact, we used to call all the goofy kids at school Geert.

Spend 3 years practicing every day against the best center in America, you’ll eventually BE the best center in America once he leaves.

My wife and I ran into him the night before the LSU v Texas A$M game in College Station 1991. He was drinking like a normal college student. He hung with us while we bought beers. I guess that is an NCAA violation. I just hope the statute of limitations has expired.
Miriam would like a word with you.

Indeed he was (is I’m sure) a good dude. Very nice guy. Some good guys in campus on those days. Geert, Russell Grant, Todd Kinchen, Rich Krajewski (I’m sure I botched the spelling).

My experience with tall b-ball players at LSU
Sorry, I am old, but one night, after drinking at Murphy's we went to get some beer and go hang out at someone's apartment. I walked in and all 3 Stanley, Geert and Shaq were together in there. Not being anywhere near 6 feet tall and somewhat drunk, it was like walking into the twilight zone land of giants or something. I also had Tito Horford in an Economics class for one day, he sat right behind me. I knew who he was as his appearance on campus was well announced. In his best very proper island English he said "Howss it going mon?"

He's slimmed down a lot since his playing days.

Ole Geert and I roamed the LSU campus at the same time basically, overlapping 3 years. I have no idea how that guy stayed eligible his entire career.

Back in the days when students could sit court-side for games and their cheers caught the attention of the benches. Geert liked being cheered on or hearing someone yell his name when he came out ahead during rough court play or a fight for the ball. Seems like I remember he got called for a foul after a tough hit on someone. Geert is brought back to the bench to cool off, and we yelled things like "hit him again, Geert". He'd look back, nod and laugh.

I remember when I was a kid at the LSU summer basketball camp. we were down in the dungeon watching shaq, cj, vernell and company all play pickup games. I remember Shaq dunking on Geert for the game, Geert pulled up lame after. Shaq hollered and asked him if he was going to play, Geert said no, Shaq proceeded to call him a fricking pussy in front of a bunch of kids.....lol. It was awesome.

He was the third of 3 LSU centers the Orlando Magic drafted in the first round in consecutive years.
91 Stanley
92 Shaq
93 Geert
I thought Roberts was drafted by the clippers?

And now he's Kevin Durant's shooting coach? He's really done well for himself
