Give the dude a break. He admitted he was wrong. He even asked for mercy. LOL

I believe all of the so called experts were more in doubt of some of the coaching more so than the players and that is why they were down on LSU.

Just look at all the clowns on this board that gave LSU no chance...
They were wrong. Great! Geaux Tigers
But don't sit there and stick your chest out like what happened Sunday night was so predictable.

Every preview i saw talked about Miami's D and Malik and how bad our O has been. Didn't mention our loaded D and Aranda. Best D he has coached.

This is bullshite.
The only human beings on the planet that couldn't see actual evidence of improvement were people who hated the idea of it, the ones unaware of it or the ones who ignored it.
Improvement through the additional analysts, the new STARTING players brought in via transfers to the additional depth on both lines brought in via recruiting and transfers.
How the hell could someone think that could possibly make the LSU program worse and not better?
How many of the new transfers played in the game? How many started? How many won SEC player of the week honors? I think Moss is the only one that didn't play.

Most analyst know LSU is a sleeping giant. Too many concerns going into the year for them to start making bold predictions. The thing that makes no sense though is that some teams and obviously ranked way too high. Their cupcake schedule justifies their projected record. Our record may not show how good of a team we have but we all know LSU is better than 90% of college football teams which should warrant a starting higher ranking.

Herby is going to do what makes him the most $$$.
After LSU loses once, we will start to be moved out of the picture. If we lost twice we will be an afterthought.

Except it's not. There was some good news over the off-season, but there was also a cavalcade of bad news to balance it out.
Why do you expect a national media guy to give our Coach and team props when the majority of our fans don't? This place was a pit of misery over the summer.
The general consensus within the fanbase and outside of it was that LSU was falling behind other programs and that we were headed for a 6-6, 7-5 type season (that still could happen by the way). Pretty evident when we were ranked at our own conference's media days behind powerhouses like State and USC.
O doesn't command respect. He'll have to earn it the way all Coaches do, and he has the albatross of his stint at OM still around his neck.
We have their attention now; I hope we make the best of it.

Herbie is the best we’ve got. Period. He is honest with his opinion. And acknowledges when he’s wrong. Those guys have to make a ton of predictions. They ain’t gonna win em all.
Herbie isn’t insufferable like the rest of those Numb nut pricks.
This defense will give us a chance to win every game. A “chance”

My thoughts exactly. He's probably the best at eating crow after being wrong. And it happens, he's human.

Being such a niche market, he's about as fair as he is allowed. As we show success, I don't have a problem with these guys recanting their prognostications or lack thereof.

They all talked about how hard it would be to replace Key and heard how he was our 2nd best defensive player last season. He only played in 8 games and wasn't great in the majority of those. Every time an "expert" talked about the loss of Key, I tuned out whatever they said next since they already showed they didn't know what they were talking about.

I was saying your statement was bullshite.

There is/was tons of evidence.

Don't ever confuse the "fanbase" with the ranter board. That causes people to make bullshite statements.

By people who probably get their LSU information from the ranter board.

If anybody watched LSU play last season and still knocks Eaux for his stint at Ole Miss over a decade ago they are about as smart and some of the posters on this board.

This was a perfect example of do your talking on the field. Not many are believers in O. We lost our previous game (Notre Dame) when we were clearly more talented. More ammunition against our staff. We promote someone to OC who seemingly didn't want the position but was convinced, not to mention he hadn't been an OC in over a decade. Miami has a good D but their turnover chain gimmick drew more attention. It's the flash over substance mentality. In the meantime it looks like our team did a solid job of blocking out the noise, controlling what they could and the we saw the result.

You guys keep begging for Herbie and ESPN's attention and you finally get some and say frick Herbie and ESPN.

Have you been on this board since the bowl loss? About 1/4 of the posters called for us to be 6-6 WITH a loss to Miami in the opener. About half of our fan base thought we would win. The other 25% thought we had a chance, but most of them probably picked Miami. "Everybody gave LSU a chance" IS a false narrative. I haven't been an "I told you so" poster (not my thing plus most of the shite talkers have owned up on their own accord), however, I'm calling you on your B.S. with this "everybody" crap.

According to whom? Top tier, we have a slight edge, overall...meh. Clearly more talented...I didn't think so.

You noticed that too huh?
Some actually don't want the recognition. They want us to be able to play the underdog card all year. But we aren't UCF.
The way it works in the SEC is that once you win the expectations grow more and more. Now we'll see how they do with more expectations and with people patting them on the back.
Eventually we have to win when everyone's counting on us to do so. That's the biggest challenge that good teams face, battling complacency.
