it's a message board, Ree. A place for people to, you know, give their opinions and ask questions.

And by the way, players absolutely ARE playing the game for the fans. Without fans paying the bills (whether directly through ticket sales and donations, or indirectly by driving ratings on TV), there's no college football.

Joe Burrow throws a 93-yard, pick six and gets blindsided by a 313-pound defensive lineman on the run back for what should have been targeting and then taunting. UCF takes a ten point lead, while Joe Burrow was lying on the turf. Burrow gets off the deck and proceeds to throw for 394 yards - the third most in a single game in LSU history to that point - and four touchdowns for a 40-32 Fiesta Bowl victory. It was the beginning of the Joe Burrow legend and set the tone for the National Championship run the next season.
That hit definitely sparked something in him. It was like a superhero moment because he went from a fairly average player to tGOAT from that play on.

15 extra practices for the young guys. Extremely beneficial.

I think it's invaluable for Kelly, he gets to see who on the roster is here to compete when nothing is on the line.

Who has any pride, who wants to play football and not just get the accolades!

Football players want to play. That is the benefit. To strap on the pads and make the other guy quit.

Players play for love of the game. Pussies question the need.

Just listen to Brad Davis 1st press conference if you want the correct answer. Sometimes the answer can be given searching for an experts answer.

in most cases its not beneficial at all, all it does is raise money for the schools and give the fans something to watch but in truth its just a glorified extra game without meaning

in our case though kelly will get a chance to see some of the guys and the type of effort they put in and that "may" help him when deciding who plays and who mostly rides the bench next year

I bet LSU makes some money for the bowl game
LSU gets to play a game in a recruiting hot bed
Game will get some national attention, as it’ll be in a national tv slot on a Tuesday night

Practices will probably help some players. Let's Kelly get a close look at returning players.

Other than that, not much benefit

This is the correct answer.

Our scheme and roster will be completely different in the spring than it is now. Then our roster will change heavily from the spring to the fall and scheme will adjust.

Practice reps is the only benefit.

Are they not keeping score? Does the outcome not count as a win or loss on this season’s permanent record? Are we not wearing LSU helmets and uniforms competing against a different team wearing their school’s helmets and uniforms? Will that competition not be broadcast on national tv? Will the announcers not be uttering “LSU” for 3 and a half hours? Will the “LSU” logo not be permanently pictured for that same amount of time on the screen? Will it be painted in one of the end zones? Will there not still be a bunch of young men who committed to come and chose to play football at LSU over every other school that offered them the opportunity? Have those young men not stuck with the team and busted their asses all year—mostly in the dark while we could not see—and persisted in the face of great adversity? Did you listen to Brad Davis’ press conference? Do you believe this game is meaningless to him? The other coaches and support staff who have stuck around, many not knowing if they will have a job on January 5th? There is a game. You play to win it. Victory. THAT is the meaning.

Maybe you should ask the players who busted their arse all year(seniors especially) if its meaningless.

My guess is since Damone Clark and Neil Farrell opted out, it shows you how meaningless this game is. Throw in TDP too.

(I support players opting out by the way. There is a reason they don't want to risk injury in meaningless games)

Now ask those seniors and juniors who played in 2019 if this bowl game has any meaning to them?

Would it really matter if they canceled this game?

I’m more looking forward to next season.
