I was going to razz ya for starting a 2nd thread on the same topic but the guy who started the first one named it so poorly (QB Battle) that I don't blame you for not noticing it.

He was a composite 4 star, 247 had him as a 3 star; 292 overall nationally, #17 Pro style QB. Elite 11 Finalist 2012.
High School Senior Year: 109/211, 52%, 11 TD, 9 INT.
Purdue 2013: 149/267, 56%, 10 TD, 6 INT.
Purdue 2014: 89/162, 55%, 6 TD, 5 INT.
Offer list: Purdue, Colorado, Indiana St., Iowa.
He's had lots of playing time at Purdue, but it doesn't seem like the light has gone on for him. His arm strength looks very average (not bad, just average). If he is going to push Jennings for the #2 this year, he'll need to make significant progress in the offseason.

You know this because . . . you watch so much Purdue football??
His stats and the fact that he was pulled as a starter midway through the season is evidence enough.

Purdue has done this three seasons in a row, somehow they've mismanaged their QB situation even worse than LSU.

he's pretty similar to Mauck or Flynn, with a really good running game and good pass blocking I think he could be pretty good.

Me be you best stick to db's. Your ignorance on QB's is showing.
Kurt Warner is an interesting example. He went to a nothing college division 1-AA where he couldn't even start until he was a senior. But tore it up then, Then he was undrafted, an released after an NFL tryout.
Another example? In the 80s, Barry Switzer's starting quarterback at Oklahoma was Troy Aikman, a future Pro Football Hall of Famer. But Switzer eventually benched Aikman because he preferred the option offense to the pro style passing game Aikman specialized in. Now, Aikman transferred successfully to UCLA, and things worked out fine for him.
Just cause a QB got benched or didn't play early doesn't always mean they suck.

Put him in for short and medium pass plays and BH in for long passes. Done. Ship! woohoo!
The guy is considerably older than the last time he saw QB action under the lights. We have no idea if he is better than BH NOW!

You're right. It's highly likely this kid is a Hall of Fame QB who just hasn't been given the right chance to succeed.

Hmm ... Kind of sounds like Purdue has a problem vs the QBs just being bad.

Well at least he is consistently bad. 11 to 9 is horrid for a HS Qb that expects to play on the next level,

Poor DBU.
You middle-schoolers always think you know best.

but the same stuff was said about Victor when he transferred from Arizona and look how he turned out.
Not really similar. Arizona had 4-5 NBA players in the front court which kept Victor on the bench.

Purdue hasn't signed a 4 star player outside of the QB position in the last 3 years.
There's a reason why a supposed QB factory has flopped. Last year the QB position managed 18 Tds vs 16 INTS and a 2-11 record. 2014 replacement for Etling managed 10TDs vs 11 INTs and a 1-6 record before transferring in 2014.
Purdue is the definition of a dumpster fire and no QB can change that.

You're delusional. You completely ignore his actual statistics. I guess we'll find out just how good he is when Brandon Harris is starting again next year.

You have zero clue how good or bad he is...neither do I. The difference is I don't try to act like I do. Purdue is shite, I can see where supporting cast impacts performance. The guy had multiple offers from d1 and big 10 schools. He must possess some ability....he is very smart and that is something LSU could desperately use in our offense. Don't need to be tremendously gifted just a solid game manager...which I'm guessing won't be difficult to do with our supporting cast.
That said..I agree he has little chance of seeing field if 2011 is an example. Les loves him some dual threat.

Purdue wasn't exactly an exciting football team but it produced a fella named Drew Brees, didn't it?
Posted on 1/18/16 at 7:35 pm to BayouCowboy
You can't reason with know it alls...guy sucks because he had bad numbers at Purdue...lol...idiots.

Don't think so. I think it would be delusional to believe that he would have to be exactly the same as he was two years ago in a different school with a different scheme and different players. He might be better. He could be worse. But, the delusional would think that he would be the same as he was.

You're right. I don't know just how good he is or how bad he is. All I can do (all anyone who isn't actually attending practice can do) is speculate based on his past performances.
Anyone who says he's the best QB on the roster because of his high school ranking, because Purdue has shite talent, or because anonymous reports that he's been the best in practice is just as full of shite as anyone.
