Funny you mention that. You're almost correct it's $30 mil over 5 years from LSU.

There's no need for name-calling ... but honestly, using common sense, I don't see how you can logically reach any conclusion other than that Fisher is the guy.
My common sense tells me that Fisher may have been the one to initiate contact w/ LSU/Alleva, and it may have been over the summer when he was in Louisiana for a coaches' clinic.
I think I have underestimated Alleva, b/c now, it seems to me he is/was only doing his job, which is to prepare for contingencies, have some flexibility and foresight, and be able to make decisions when called upon.
I think (speculation) that Fisher expressed interest in LSU at some point in the past, and Alleva filed it away and kept it in his bank of information. LSU started 7-0. Had that continued we wouldn't be where we are. Miles was obviously sitting on a hotter seat than most of us thought. When the season went south, I think Alleva and the LSU power brokers made the decision to see just how interested Fisher was.
My assumption is that Fisher was extremely interested. Discussions ensued.
Logic tells me Alleva would not basically have forced Miles out, if he didn't know he had Fisher lined up.
I actually think Alleva has handled this situation quite well. Think about it. The opportunity to get Fisher was there, the season played out to the point where LSU made the decision to move on from Miles, and instead of going through a stupid search firm process, we will have our man next week.
It is very unfortunate that Miles has been denied sort of a "farewell tour, BUT, c'mon folks, LSU can't afford that luxury. The SEC West is moving on, Alleva saw an opportunity to nab Fisher, he took it.
If Fisher isn't the guy, then, Alleva will have egg on his face. I see no scenario under which Miles can be retained, and at that point you're looking at the other coaches who have been mentioned -- Herman, Kelly, perhaps a few others.
By the way, if you're upset by the negative publicity from the national media, turn off ESPN. They don't have LSU's best interest at heart. Alleva does, and, his job is on the line. He can't afford to screw this up.
I agree, until the deal is done (wet ink signatures on a contract), it ain't done. But I'm very confident this is going to happen.

I do not. How many times has a school poached another school's coach and been this openly brazen about it. It's never gonna happen. If they fire Les this year, they get fricked on the Jimbo situation. The best bet is to stand behind him and let him resign after next year, win or lose. Then you have all year to interview and vet coaches.

When he was oc here, I used to call the play in the stands. Near the end of the season this guy four rows behind me came and said I had a 88.34% correct rate and shook my hand.
I highly doubt the accuracy that you supposedly had in predicting the exact play. Also, those were top twenty offenses and almost every qb he coached went to the NFL. Execution i more important than calling tricky unpredictable plays. That's why i think you don't know dick about offense and thusly, who should be our head coach

He has to really want this. And his (soon to be ex) wife needs to be on board. His kids have spent formative years there and it is home. His son has a serious illness. Unless LSU medical school is going to endow research into the illness that little boy suffers from....
Etc. Etc
Etc
Once you get into lots of money, what is a little more? Unless, of course, that soon to be ex wants a higher alamony. Maybe then she is willing to move with the children.

If you are following the developments, then you would conclude that there is no way in hell that Miles can return. Everyone understands the amount of signable talent in the coming recruiting class. How could Miles and staff convince players they'll be at LSU past next yr, after everything that has happened? Answer: they can't.
He's done at LSU. Period.
Now, whether LSU should have set it up this way is a different question, but, let's deal in reality. Miles is done.
I concede that until Fisher signs the contract, he could change his mind. I don't know that he hasn't already signed the contract. If he hasn't, I still would be shocked if he doesn't next week.
Relax, it is going to happen, it will be a great hire, and he'll be able to create a great staff.

Are we all in agreement, that if DALSU is wrong, he will never be able to post here again! There would be some MAD people around here! Hope he's right though!

How has LSU been brazen? LSU has been quiet.

I'm pretty stoked at the idea of a coach leaving FSU for LSU. That's something unimaginable 15 yrs ago.
