I know that this site is made up all types of fans, but I am just curious as to which ones bring the entire negative attitude to the board. I have a feeling that this mindset comes from two different types of fans. The two types of fans that I think do all the whining and complaining on this board are BANDWAGONERS and CHILDREN from the ages of 13- to mid or early twenties who started following LSU football after or just before the first championship in 2003. My reason for believing this is because they did not experience the 4-7 of DiNardo in 1998 after being preseason top 15 or the 16-28 over Hallman’s tenure. I’m tired of hearing “WE ARE LSU” on this board; “We should win 10 games every year.” Yes, the expectations are higher now and that’s great, but if you had said those things 10 years ago, you would have been laughed out of a stadium where people weren’t so pampered and just enjoyed going being there on a Saturday night no matter how good or bad our team was.
I do have a problem with the way Les handled some things the past few seasons. He has lost some games that we should have won. Yes, the program has slipped a little bit after winning a National Championship in 2007 but we still went 9-4 and 8-5 with two straight years of first year starters at QB. WAKE UP, we went to a New Years Day bowl for the 3rd time in 5 years. Sure as hell beats the run of the few Peach and Independence bowls from 1989 to 2000.
With that being said, everyone take a step back and look at how the program is now compared to 10 years ago. We are 3 years off of the national championship and have a lot of talent at all positions. I can’t wait until Les shuts up all the haters this year. I cant tell you how pumped I am about kickoff in 14 days, and if you are not GTFO!
My first game was stovall and Dinardo was the highpoint of my college years. So I understand your point because the games and atmosphere sucked in those years, but we aren't there anymore. The reason for any justifiable criticism is because there should be no reason for us to fall back to those times and fear of doing that fuels the negative criticism. Sitting around saying everything is great and you're doing a great job doesn't make it occur.

I had great seats for the 1996 Bama game where Alexander ran all over LSU (I think it was 291 yards by himself). If you can sit through that, these days don't seem so bad.

First game in 1987 ... played Rice. The guy I was with kept saying "gonna get me some Rice & gravy". Ugh.
Student on campus from 1988 - 1991 ... moved out of town ... faculty/grad student 1993 - 1997. Season ticketholder ever since 1997.
Some years have been rough. I will NOT be giving up my tickets any time soon!

I started LSU in 1994, and even then Saturday night in death valley was the best part of the week. I didn't have high expectations though.

Good lord, I have underwear older than you. It was a boring game and unfortunately I left early to get home to my new wife and daughter. When I got my Mike's cage on my way to married student housing, I heard the stadium erupt. sucks.

I watched LSU play vs T A&M back in the 60s when fans were bitching at Charlie Mac just like they are bitching at Miles.

I don't even think his biggest supporters are saying this because of the way he managed some games last year. It takes a lot of luck to have a 10 win season. It hasn't gone his way the past two year, and hopefully it will change this year.

I go all the way back.
To The very beginning.
2003.
When it all started.
I go to every game, unless they suck, then I leave at halftime.
I am Old School Greatness personified.

I have been a tiger fan all my life, well before Dinardo. It sucked sometimes, especially the Dinardo years. But remembering the pain of those years makes it no less painful to watch what is happening to our program today. It's like driving that POS car all through high school and college, graduating, getting a job and buying a new sports car only to lose your job in 4 years and having to go back to that POS car.
I hope I'm wrong, and I try to be positive, but I see nothing going on in our program that tells me Les is going to turn this around. From recruits to coordinators to the Head Coach. I don't see the strengths in any of these that can overcome the shortcomings in the others. Sorry.

<<<<<<<<<< Count me in the pre-2000 group. I went to my first game in 1979. Once my older sister started at LSU in 1983, I started attending games every fall.
