Gov. Bobby Jindal said Tuesday evening that evacuation orders could be issued as early as Friday, depending on the track of Hurricane Gustav. While there remains a lot of uncertainty when it comes to the storm's path, Jindal stressed that it is important that residents start getting plans in order now.

holy shite some of you people are stupid. i watched bobby jindal say that contraflow will start saturday evening if the storm is projected to hit new orleans. there will be no game if they're evacuating new orleans
LSU vs App State, Saturday.
Bet you $10,000 game is played Saturday in Baton Rouge, no matter if/when contraflow goes into affect.

Looks like he's playing it safe just in case. It's a tough spot he's in because he doesn't want to wait too late, but he also can't afford to jump the gun and cause a panic.

Gustav will only just be entering the Gulf by Saturday night. Even if we're still in the possible strike zone, I seriously doubt that evacuations will begin before Sunday for the simple reason that they will not know until Friday where the landfall will occur...and even then it will be a best guess
True, but if they are still predicting it to move that quickly they would have to start evacs on Saturday. By looking at the latest map posted just above, it looks as if landfall would be some time Monday if it hit Louisiana. I don't think there is any way in hell they would wait to evac with only 24 hours until landfall.

is everyone forgetting Katrina's forecast shift? The forecast shifted 100 miles overnight.
We won't know ANYTHING UNTIL FRIDAY AT THE EARLIEST.

Reuters reported only 16 minutes ago that it has regressed to a tropical depression as it hits Hatii.
With all due respect to people in it's path, I will be super pissed if this thing cancels the game.

So you're saying LSU would play a game 48 hours before a major hurricane makes landfall in Louisiana while the major roadways that normally take people to and from the game are only moving in one direction and are flooded with a few hundred thousand people evacuating through Baton Rouge?
Mmmyepp. Makes perfect sense.

Yes. Game against Appy State will happen Saturday. Next week's game is a different story if the Cane makes landfall in Louisiana.

Updated Model
Those models are actually better for the BR area. The models have shifted more west than the previous ones.

Well if you remember a few years ago, some hurricane was heading straight for south Florida, so they played the scheduled Steelers/Dolphins game on a Thursday night as opposed to Sunday afternoon.

I do think it is a possibility the game is moved up to 1100 am though.
