It actually looks like the models have shifted more towards the East from when I last saw them yesterday morning. What does suck is that they are starting to converge to a smaller area. The "cone-o-probability" is going to get smaller and more focused. Damn.

If this storm remotely starts heading towards the Louisiana coast, the game will be cancelled. Contraflow will start as early as Friday, if need be. Once contraflow starts, the game will be cancelled, no ifs ands or buts. And anyone who doesn't understand this is juat plain ignorant.

Contra-flow, in which all lanes of major highways would direct traffic away from the storm impact area, could begin Saturday or very early Sunday, Jindal said.

I feel a lot better about the game going on with the latest update.

But of course these things change with every update that comes out.

It is currently moving at 4mph, the slower the better, gamewise.

With this new model, it will barely be getting into the gulf on Saturday afternoon and probably wouldn't hit Louisiana(if it does) til some time Monday afternoon.

It's pushing it close, but this model looks "better", again gamewise, then the last few.

It's not about the storm hitting after the game, it's about when they start mandatory evacuations. If we're looking at a Monday landfall, evacuations will start no later than Saturday. I don't see us playing a football game while mandatory evacuations are under way.

It's still too early, but many of the computer models are coming together and taking aim at us.

The exhibition football game between LSU and App. State could not be any less important right now.

It's not a stretch to say that the very future of New Orleans and the coastal wetlands hangs in the balance. A direct hit, and the city as we know it will be abandoned. It will be Key West with guns and skyscrapers, a forbidden outpost.

IF the game can be played I think they'll play it. Wow, but can you imagine if this thing takes shape and it's large as hell- the grief Jindal would get for letting 90,000 fans party 2 days before? Or would he?

There is no way the game is getting played unless something changes today or VERY early tomorrow.

If evacuations of ANY major parishes (Jefferson, Orleans, Tangipahoa) begin, the game will be off.

Jindal HAS to be safe and very early - there's just no doubt about it.

The fact that the game is scheduled to be nationally televised also probably expedites the possibility of it being postponed. ESPN will likely bail very quickly.

I'm not making predictions about the storm, I'm making predictions about how public officials will react to the storm in the still recent memory of Katrina.

No need to get people all freaked out. That is just one model plus its 5 days away. You need to read the note at the bottom of the pic.

"USE WITH EXTREME CAUTION"

People in SE LA need to be aware of the hurricane but no need to panic just yet.

Out of curiosity, what does Miami do when hurricanes disrupt games down there? Do they move north and still play somewhere else, or do they scrub the game and play it on an "off" date? (I assume Miami has had their games disrupted due to hurricanes in the past.) I know we played a Monday night game back in 05....but what are the real options if this game has to be moved?
