That would make absolutely no sense.. To make a game decision when the fricking models dont know what will happen on Saturday much less people. Contraflow decision can not be made until the hurricane is 2 days out.

LSUsports.net say they are not expecting the storm to impact the game.

Hmm... the link you provided says that as of 10:00 am, Gustav is moving WNW at 5 mph. That is not moving to the east. It will start to pick up speed later.

I do think the game will be played. The storm won't even be in the gulf by the time the game starts. It will still be in the Caribbean and likely won't hit until late Monday night.

At 2am the morning Lily hit, it was rated Cat 4 building to a Cat 5 and heading for SW La. directly...I'm freaking as my Mom and husband are calmly sleeping...I went to bed & woke up to find that Lily, even tho, over water building up strength, actually LOST strength over water and hit land as a Cat 1 or 2...the folks around here (Cajun Catholics) said that their prayers and praying the rosary changed the storm...I'm Episcopalian, but who could argue? Something extremely unusual happened to lessen that storm...so for what it's worth, say some prayers that Louisiana be spared (sounds selfish) as we've had our 100 year storm in 2005. It certainly can't hurt.

Can we have them vote that the outcome of the game play is LSU 42, APP 3.....

Just joking, I am on the side of there will be no game if it is on a track to threaten LA on Monday. Kinda crazy to be trying to get folks out but bringing in about 60k non Baton Rouge residents to clog shite up.

I'm CAtholic and will readily admit that I was praying my arse off. However, I remember another explanation being that TS Isidore the WEEK BEFORE Lili had cooled the water temps therefore having a part in Lili slowing down.

does the word premature mean anything ?

Today is Wednesday and no one even knows the path...I understand if they were to make tentative plans, but "to make a game determination"?????? TODAY ?

You make tentative plans and update them as needed.
they are 24 to 48 hrs. ahead of themselves.
I guess they are trying to CYA after Katrina.

and Yes, I know that some people travel on Thurs.
but a tentative WARNING could be issued about possible cancellation.

if by late Thursday we were to know that it will hit Louisiana, I would think that out-of-towners would have sense not to come......
THEN THE GAME CAN BE DEALT WITH...
on Thursday.
Only a thought.

Nice. Meet me this afternoon? We can get a third party to hold the $20k if you want.

The Weather Channel is projecting that Gustav isn't even supposed to make landfall until sometime around Monday afternoon anyway!
