Unfortunately we are going to have to be realistic and temper our expectations. We don't have to have a Heisman at QB to compete for the West.

If QB play was at 90% of what Joe brought this year, we may lose 3 games.

We shouldn't need Heisman level play, but we did this year.

how many times have we been told Bama will "take a step back" next year?

You do realize they have elite recruits sitting on their bench, with another elite recruiting class coming in the fall. Just because we don't know their names yet, doesn't mean they don't have other superstars waiting in the wings.

Bro they took a step back this year. That defense gave up serious points to the only 2 good teams it played all year. They gave up 31 to Ole Miss and 28 to TAMU as well. What do you think would have happened if they had to play UF and Texas? I knew before the season when they lost all those guys to injury and transfer, and the coaches they lost months before, that the defense would be weaker. Listen to any Bama fan and they'll tell you how off that defense had been this year.

You meaning to tell me after losing Jeudy, Ruggs, Smith, and RB Harris to go along with Tua, that they won't take a step back??? Bama is 2nd in scoring offense and #7 in total offense. Those 4 skill players account for 3200 yards and 36 TDs of their 4100 yards and 46 receiving TDs. You have to be a retard to believe that doesn't affect anybody. How many times have you seen any team lose their starting QB, RB, and 4 of top 5 pass catchers who have started 2+ years, and not miss a beat? That shite doesn't happen.

for ordinary teams, sure, next year would be a down year. But Bama has NFL players sitting on their bench. They’ll just reload. Don’t expect too much of a drop off.

It’s reasonable to expect the offense to take a step back, that’s understandable from the world beaters they are with a Heisman QB this year. Brennan likely won’t be that so we need to give him a chance and a few games to see what he has.

Hopefully the defense gets back to normal to offset any drop in the offense

From what I saw in the aTm game, the coaching staff didn’t really turn him loose and he made some great throws. Now his ability to read defenses and check off will come with time as the bell cow ...

touchdown to McMath was nice

Maybe Myles will be awesome and put up similar numbers.

If Myles can put together a season similar to Joe’s 2018 numbers, this team can be really good
All we need from him is to show leadership and not turn the ball over. If he can get 3250-3500 yards and 35-40 touchdowns we can say he had one hell of a good first season.
Those numbers with a stout defense and good running game and we are back in Atlanta next year. Many national championships have been won with quarterbacks that put up decent but not fantastic numbers.

I really expect him to light shite up next year. If he can learn to put more touch on the long ball, I could see him putting up 3,500 next year, if not more. Terrace and Chase will be back, possibly Moss and a host of other play makers returning. Also incoming Arik Gilbert. He’s gonna have a plethora of talent around him. The few times I’ve seen him scramble, he moves without much effort and he’ll only get better. He’s had two years to learn from Joe, and will have had two years with Brady when he takes the first snap next year.

Every bad pass. Every interception. Every game they lose. He will always be compared to Joe, and it will be brutal. I’d rather be the guy after the guy.

Especially on The Rant!

Matt Flynn in 2007 put up 2,407 yards with 21 touchdowns and ran for 4 more
We CAN win a championship with less than stellar quarterback play. The defense would have to be in the top three in scoring and special teams would have to be amazing but it is possible with a really stingy defense.

Burrow= 5th year player
Flynn 5th year player
Brennan= 4th year player

Point being the 2 guys above Brennan were good in their 4th year, but excelled in their 5th year. If Myles can be what Joe was last year, he will meet expectations.

"Every game they lose" what makes you think they will lose? Joe made his path at LSU, Brennan has that same opportunity to make his. He is a good quarterback with a rocket of an arm.

Next year will not be the big year for MB, but 2021 should be.

Even number year = road games at Aub & Gaytors. eaTme will likely be better.

10-3 2020 would be great lead into 2021.

Don’t feel sorry for him. Dude is a competitor and is going to give it hell. He doesn’t need your pity.

Almost verbatim what I was saying in my head after reading OP’s thread title...plus he has the personnel in place and has had the mentor in Burrow to make next year special in its own right.
