Conference title would work for me. So would a trip to Atlanta.

I wasn't for hiring O, but he is our coach. He was hired to turn things around. He hasn't yet. He was hired to make changes. He has done that.

We know he's not going anywhere, so we might as well hope for the best. Nothing is going to happen until we play things out.

I've been lurking since the beginning of this place. 2005 was just my first time coming out of the dark.

I think O is a much better coach than the ole piss days even though they We’re a WSU level pre Leach. His ace recruiting is why Nutt won a few games. He learned a lot under Pete & yes even Kiffen. He is a lot more relaxed this season it seems to me. I think staff continuity is crucial and they have that now. Canada was forced onto O and that shouldn’t have happened. He will be better than most think but is that still good enough for LSU? Time will tell. He deserves credit for revamping the roster and keeping recruiting strong which is undervalued imo considering how tough it can get when a long tenured winning coach leaves. Especially am iconic one like Les.

“But what in Os history suggests this is possible?”

Experience. He now has experience. He also has passion for LSU. Sometimes we are not great at first. It takes time. Now is his time.

Ensminger wasn’t a sexy hire but I really don’t have an issue with it. We haven’t had a great OC in a while so I don’t get excited with big names anymore.

Why do we need a big name? There is a middle ground between big name and Ensminger.

You know what one of the keys to long term success is? Finding an up and comer BEFORE he's a big name. Get someone that runs a modern offense successfully and has proven his proficiency. There's no fewer than 5 guys that you could go out and target with that profile, and one of them probably takes the promotion to LSU.

It’s all about the QB to run an offense which hasn’t existed in some time

That's even moreso a reason why you need a good OC.

Do you realize that Kliff Kingsbury had Davis Webb, Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes all on his roster in the course of a couple of years?

Getting top notch QB's is a little easier when they are in an air raid , Mike Leach kind of offnse

Yes, experience continuing to do things that have contributed to his past failures.

I'll watch and pull for them in every game. That said, I "ain't comin" to any games and LSU will not be receiving a penny from me.

The real question is this: Is any coach ever good enough for LSU fans? Since before the late 1950s, especially in the post Dietzel years on up to the present day, a very vocal segment of the fan base seems to believe it is their mission to trash the coaches, and pine for the ones we don’t have at LSU that may have been somebody’s favored candidate for the job once. Subset is the group of fans who continually lament the departed previous coach, who is always considered by them to have been the best possible coach, compared to any current coach in the position.

So it is a no-win proposition for any incumbent coach at LSU.

Dietzel was criticized by a lot. Produced the national champion.
When he left, McClendon was hounded unmercifully. He just won games.
When he left his successors mostly demonstrated what bad coaching really is.
DiNardo brought back the magic, was loved, then that soured with Tepper. He was driven out.
Saban came. Built a team, was criticized for some embarrassing losses. Won the MNC. Next year, meh. And he left.
Enter CLM. From day 1 a horror for half the fans, a curiosity for a lot of the fans, loved by many fans, a target for too many. All he did was win, including a MNC and a chance (blown) to win a 2nd. Then after 11 amazing (mostly) years, he was gone. And so now it’s CEO, and the knives are sharpened and it is reset of all the same old stuff again.

I believe too many LSU fans like to criticize the coaches, and each other, more than they like football.

Being realistic and not naive does not make you a worse fan.

I would argue that it makes you a much better fan and had there been a lot more of these, alleva wouldn't have hired O in the first place
