While I agree he was the most talented qb ever to play at LSU, he was not the best leader and did not have the best intangibles. anyone who argues that is just foolish
i hate people like you. Jamarcus came in as a freshman and lead this team while it took flynn five yrs. how foolish are you to say jamarcus couldnt lead this team.

People do not JR because he did not win a NC... Thats their only argument plain and simple had he won one people would proclaim him greatest of all-time.

quote:all your stats prove is that stafford sucked as a freshman which most of us already knew. the fact that they sucked more than our freshman QB doesn't really bolster your argument.
I brought up those stats, not for a JL/JJ debate, just to show that just because you have better stats doesn't mean you are a "better" qb. That there are intangibles that can't be measured in statistics

quote:I'd buys that argument a little more if this were the NFL. This argument infers that if Pitt had not upset WV then Flynn would be a worse quarterback; and that if some other crazyass upset had happened in 2006 then JR would be a better quarterback
People do not JR because he did not win a NC

Read through arguments they are basically bashing JR because
1. they believe he had better talent
2. he was dumb
3. he did not win a NC
Flynn got lucky to get into the NC, you cant discount what he did in the game but he needed help to get in.
JR to me from a talent perspective was one of the best if not the best QB for LSU.
He is in my favorite top 5 behind Tyler, Davey, Hodson.

It blows my mind to think that people hated him here and wanted Matt Flynn to play ahead of him. This guy was so special and was one of the best talents to ever play at LSU.
So, who is with me??
Noboday hated him! Everybody I know pulled for him loyally.
My thing with JR was that he never seemed to fully take over the game and lead. He did it in spurts and was an awesome QB. I knew watching him as a freshman that he was damn good. I could tell that he was never going to be a prolific passer though. Neither was Flynn. Just two different QBs with their own talents.
PS...I will be pulling hard for JJ, but if he needs to be yanked, yank em'. We stuck too long with Lee last year and it was not fair to him or the team. Reminded me of Jim Mora sticking with Aaron Brooks while Jake Delhomme carried a clip board!

Jim Mora never coached Aaron Brooks.

quote:Well, some of us proclaim him that, anyway; but you're absolutely right. If JaMarcus' last pass against Auburn goes 5 more yards, we win the National Championship that year (imo) and there is essentially no debate that he is the greatest QB in LSU history.
had he won one people would proclaim him greatest of all-time.

agreed...except it was Haslett...not Mora.

If Flynn had the 2006 Wide Receivers that JR had, LSU would not have lost a game in 2007
If you wanna play that game, if JaMarcus had the running game that Flynn had in 2007, LSU would not have lost a game in 2006.
It works both ways.

thread is still truckin along nicely

I miss Jamarcus doing audibles at the line and running it up the middle every time. LOL.

He did, plus he also had Joe Addai.
