Posters in here seem to think the search is over and an agreement is in place. What's odd is that there also seems to be a disagreement on who that actually is.

Maybe it's Corbin hahaha. But probably Sully.

There may be some sort of verbal agreement in place. Kendall Rogers made a great point about Sully yesterday. While he thinks that Sully is the number one guy and that there's mutual interest, the longer Florida is in the tournament the longer that gives the AD to work out an extension with him.

It's ridiculous for anyone to say that the deal is already done or that another coach has been hired already.

It's one thing to say "This is who our number one target is, and we will get him. We have a verbal agreement in place." and actually signing that guy. I agree that this isn't over.

I had heard that Sully was basically a done deal until some skeletons fell out of the closet. I had also heard that Godwin and Schloss were next in line but some other interesting candidates had come to us, too.

I think they moved on from Sully. Whether or not he's continuing to scratch back, and whether or not they're entertaining it, I don't know. I just know they had moved the crosshairs elsewhere. I have not heard any other names besides Godwin and Schloss - but that doesn't mean that they aren't putting other feelers out. Vitello was not mentioned, but maybe he was a guy that they didn't expect to have interest or felt like Tennessee would pay him.

Seems to be a common theme. Either he just hasn't had the amount of experience and success that Woodward is looking for or it's one hell of a smokescreen.

Your guess is as good as mine. Woodward might love him but understands that Tennessee will open up the check book to keep him. If I'm being honest, Paul doesn't like Vitello so Woodward may just be playing the game of respect - not to say that he isn't targeting him, but he's going to keep it real close to the vest out of respect for Paul.

Woodward has been in talks with Jimmy Sexton. Saban has done all he can in football and is ready to take on a new sport back at home
laugh all you want but I bet Saban would be a good baseball coach...if Ted Lasso can coach soccer, Saban can coach baseball.

I truly hate... HATE that a previous coach has any say unless that coach becomes AD.

If you follow Woodward history of hiring coaches this is what you get!

I promise he has his top candidate and will do everything in his power to get him which he usually does. Leaking news is hard to come by with him but usually he gets what he wants.

going off Paul's own hiring decisions throughout his tenure, his input should be minimum

I'm not insinuating that he has any say. Vitello could just be the super secret candidate, so that Paul doesn't get too pissy before his duties are even relieved.

Yeah, I wasn't saying you were insinuating that he was. It only made me think of how dumb it is for those old coaches to have input.
