From reports we're hearing on here, Mett is the same way but a ton of you want to deny that and put it off as he said she said which is what it is. Mett gets drunk and grabs on some girl's titties but you contribute that to being a young dude and some of you having the gall to say the girl was probably wanting it. Yet you want to remove ties with JRoc over getting fat an not panning out and then when he is trying to go back and get his degree, some are betting on him to fail?????

I think the other poster was correct, in that he even asked Jamarcus to do more than other qbs he coached. It bugged Jimbo that half our fanbase just assumed Flynn was the smarter qb of the two.

You don't just put up the numbers he did his last year with talent alone, there have been plenty of physically gifted qbs who flamed out in college.

I heard he's gonna be the new "life" coach for the football team.

What would you expect Jimbo to say? You expect he would throw the guy under the bus publically?

Would you admit that was a bad year for quarterbacks. How many QBs in 06 were throwing to three WRs the caliber of Bowe, Davis, and Doucet? It appears several rookies this year in the NFL are much better prospects than any of that crop. RP may be a better NFL prospect than any of the 06 draftees.

If they were upset they would have benched him and not told the press the exact opposite of what you're saying.

Riiiiiiiight, because the piss poor attitude as far as work ethic and approach to the game magically appeared the second he left LSU. That is unbelievably gullible.

Just because they decided he was still the best option, though they were frustrated he wasnt giving it more than they thought he could or should, doesnt negate what I said to be true.

Do you honestly swallow every bit of coach speak given to the media as the gospel?

So in your limited knowledge players or people in general never change their work ethic once they strike it rich?

The person who told me works/worked for the LSU athletic dept. He had been (at the time) involved with the football program for over 30 years. The topic came up when I asked him about why JR doesnt audible more. I asked him if it stemed from an intelligence issue that led the coaches not to have that kind of confidence in him.........or was it something else? That is when he relayed the story about how all the other QB's are spending extra voluntary time in the film room and it got noticed that he wasnt putting in that effort. Some of the coaches were frustrated by it. He told me the kid isnt dumb, he just doesnt have a good work ethic. He didn't elaberate any further but I came away feeling there was more to it along those lines he didnt want to share.

I didn't say he was just getting by, I said he was just getting by on talent mostly. He was very successful, did I ever argue he wasnt?

Hopefully some will notice typical Christopher Hitchens counter-argumentation in this thread: use invective, never acknowledge inconvenient fact, and change the subject. It was shocking to see Hitchens and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair ramble at one another months ago over religion. I knew Hitchens would be unpersuasive as usual, but I knew Blair was a good debater. Only now do I recall accurately what I thought of the mess at the time: It was one leftist arguing against a more extreme leftist about the reality that is Catholic (which is Blair's new religion) doctrine, which is incompatible with leftism.

Bro, you're trying too hard to sound smart. Obvious you just listen to a lot of talk radio.

I really dont care if you believe me or not drexyl. I heard it from two different people at a time when no one was questioning the guys work ethic. That is why I found it so interesting. The years have certainly proved thier statements true for me.

If you want to believe he did a complete 180 out of college, that his work ethic suddenly changed because he signed a contract, fine. Eat a fricking doughnut and chill.

You're allowed a free pass once (or maybe even twice depending on the severity of your actions) when you are a young man. Young people make mistakes- just like Mett and JR. The point is that when you don't learn from your mistakes and turn it around to do well (even after you are rewarded with millions of dollars and a once in a lifetime chance), you have essentially used up all of your goodwill with people and they are no longer going to give you any more free passes. JR has used up all of his free passes, Mett still has at least one left. What don't you get about this? JR is in 'prove it to me' mode right now. People will be ecstatic if he cleans up his act and gets his degree. Right now, most people don't see that happening.

Yes...as soon as some LSU fans admit that 2007 was a bad year for college football teams, and that a 10-2 record in 2005 & 2006 was the same as a 10-2 record in 2007...and that just because the QB under center in 2007 benefited from a weaker SECW that allowed a 2 loss SEC team to make it to Atlanta (which the previous QB did not benefit from) AND benefited from a loss by the then #2 team in the country (WVU) in their conference championship game that enabled his team to jump from #7 to #2 and get a shot to play in the BCSNG does not magically make one QB better than the other despite having worse personal stats.

I won't hold my breath...

The fact that 2006 turned out to be in hindsight a bad year for QB's that will make an impact in the NFL does nothing to tarnish what Russell did that year at LSU...just as the fact that Flynn benefited mightily from the good fortune that in 2007 2 losses was still good enough to make it to Atlanta AND thankfully good enough to make it to NOLA to play for the title. Both QB's did what they could do under the circumstances of their year. Why does one constantly get hammered while the other praised?

this is one of the stupidest things ever posted on the rant

Your inability to look at the whole argument that is being made without resorting to the lame retort of "hating on JR", or the "you are calling him the N-word" really makes you a one dimensional poster- and quite frankly if I'm stupid then that makes you retarded. Yes JR was a great LSU QB, yes he has great talent, yes he never got in trouble. No one is arguing that point. The whole world knows he failed after that, it's not even an arguable point, yet you still keep thinking he didn't? Hello, the Earth is flat.

where did I say he didn't fail in the NFL? I just don't care or see how that is relevant to whether or not he is "welcome" back at lsu. you talk about giving him another chance a chance for what? what do you have to offer him that he needs this one more chance from you? does JR know you hold his fate in your e-hands? if not maybe you should tell him.

and yes saying that JR or anyone else selected by the raiders is the mark of a selfish player is just fricking retarded. Darren McFadden is selfish? Rolando McLain isn't a true athlete and has no desire to win? is the entire raider roster made of selfish "me first" players that only care about getting paid (even if they were drafted and really didn't have that much of a choice where they went)? really I'm curious how much of a fricking moron you are.
