Lee got arse blasted by Bama that year

If ever a quarterback was put in a position to fail by the offensive game plan, it was Jarrett Lee. To this day, I believe Les wanted Lee to struggle so he could get Jefferson back under center.

There are 2 strong rumors from what happened with Lee. I will not post them, but they should be easy to find.

With that said knowing Lee was not going to play, why not try Zach Mettenberger, Jefferson was having a very poor game, why not Zach even if not ready.

Because we didn't have the routes trees in place to keep Lee from getting killed or throwing picks. Our passing game was not creative. Even Burrow would've looked average in that scheme. Go back and watch our games from that year. Even when we won by a lot the passing game was at least 20 years behind its time. It would be difficult for any quarterback to succeed in that system.

In fact, he is the only BCS QB to lead his team to zero points in the entire BCS championship history.

False. FSU scored 0 offensive points against OU.

Was Mett even eligible that year? Lee apologists are funny. He wouldn’t have made a difference. No poise under pressure.

This is the true answer that most people don’t think of. Lee was hopeless against Bama. What should’ve happened was Mett should have gotten meaningful game reps all season long during all those blowouts. Then Mett might’ve had a chance to throw against Bama. He could’ve done it.

e. Without Lee, there’s no way LSU would’ve finished the 2011 season 12-0. He had his flaws, but he was a team player to the very end. He never said a bad word about Miles or LSU, and he deserved better treatment than what he got from Miles.

Did I want Lee to go in? Absolutely.

With that said based on all his previous performances with significant pocket pressure the best possible treatment miles could have given him is the one he got-not going in. Now there is always a folk hero, if only, scenario that surrounds his LSU career and disregards his previous performance against the same defense

No QB on that roster was beating Alabama that night. We got our arse thoroughly beat. The coaches failed the players. Miles wasted an obscene amount of talent

Did Les ever give a reason as to why he didn’t put Lee in the game?

I have never heard a definite answer to this, only suppositions or rumors. He should have played. If he would have crapped the bed as a lot here think, then Mett should have come in. Until 2019, that was one of the best LSU teams I've seen and it was such a travesty to not do everything we could to win that NC. Bama was obviously better prepared that night but I disagree with those that say they were the better team that year. Everyone knows Les never regained his Mojo after that game. And I still think it was the worst LSU loss I've witnessed.

Still wish Miles would have put him in at halftime.

And Les also had Mettenberger on the bench. I went nuts screaming at the TV try something different! Les never learned you don't wear a Sabin team down.

If Mett had gotten good reps during the year LSU would’ve at least had a chance.

Correct. It’s fashionable around here, due to the many Bama folk and emotional LSU fans, to exaggerate the extent of the arse beating. Of course LSU was dominated but certainly no worse than Nabreaska against 2001 Miami, Ok against 2004 USC, Florida against 1995 just to name a few. So what if it was a shutout? 21-0 is hardly worse than 55-19.

It has been enough years so the truth can be revealed. Jarrett Lee refused to go back in the Alabama game. From that time on he was dead to Les and would never play again. Mettenberger had injured his hand at practice. He was told he would start the second half but he could not grip the ball and could not play. And that my friends are the facts.

Just another thing that drives me crazy. We found a weak link in Bama's secondary. It would allow Landry to break free. We called the play three times. On the first possession of the game on third down Landry was breaking in the clear but Jefferson fumbled the snap. Two other times Landry was wide open down the middle of the field and Jefferson overthrew him. We did not execute and Bama's QB did.

This makes sense except that we didn’t have an offense that could do that. The only way that could have happened is for them to go sandlot and start drawing up plays “in the dirt”.
4 WRs on the field in 2011 and two would be saying to the others: “ what are y’all doing out here ?”
