If true, our D will inprove. this feels like JJ,JL all over again. Welter will prob start and my bloodpresure will reach a all-time high.

Welter started for a reason.Welter knows the defense
Mike LB calls the defense for the front 7. IMO, that is why Welter has played as much as he has.
Maybe w/ the extra week of preparation, Chavis feels better about Louis.

First off, Welter is not terrible. Not even close. Is he athletic enough to get from sideline to sideline against SEC athlete? No. Has he made tackles in the hole or behind the line? Yes. He is pretty decent at reading and reacting in a hurry. Just that there are better athletes out there.
I've watched LL a lot during the games he's played in, and yes at times he looks really fast and instinctive.
And at other times he will go a couple of series of being lost out there, last guy to get to the pile, etc. I worry about his size as a MLB.
I was hoping Beckwith was the long-term solution at MLB, not LL.
But, bottom line, expect to see a few more 'wow' plays from LL, but also more plays where he is totally out of position. Pick you poison.

It sounds like you're describing Welter.
.......but, I hear what you're saying. Neither is as good as we're used to at that position.

Maximus will be along shortly to call you a racist.

no effort to get off the block.
that's what pisses me off about him.
It's one thing if you aren't as fast as the other guys. You'll never see Welter run down the line of scrimmage and make a tackle on a bubble screen like Louis has done. But you've got to put some effort when you get blocked.
It's like he's taking Bobby Knights view on rape. Just sitting back and taking it.
Either try to blow the blocker up or do what you can to get around him, don't just let him block you and completely take you out of the play.
I would be ecstatic if he didn't start. I feel bad for the guy that we bash him so much, but he's just not good enough to help us win.
I'd rather Louis come in and make some great plays and some bad plays, then have Welter make no plays the whole game. You shouldn't go through a game and not here the MLB's name, like most of Welter's games.
Yes we are spoiled at that position, and the safety position as well.

I don't understand why Welter gets playing time at all other than in mop up duty. He is way undersized and WAY too slow for SEC play. The defensive play caller excuse boggles my mind.

I'm not a Welter fan, but, he is listed at 6'-1", 226 lbs & Louis is listed at 6'-0", 216 lbs.

I was praying we would go with Tahj, Barrow, Kwon but with the injury to Tahj then maybe that forced Welter in the middle, and yes Welter in non-effective. Louis however not much better, did the staff just put Louis through a two week crash course then maybe he will be ready. I still do understand not playing Barrow in the middle.

yall remember what lamar said when collins committed to bama? he said he wanted a carry so he could bust him in the mouth.

Is he a step down from Minter? UHHHH, YEAH!!!! Does he have trouble getting out to the edge for backside support? Or fighting off a block? Yes.
But, if you followed this board and never watched a game you'd think he was Auburn's Jake Holland. Now THAT guy is truly awful.
I've seen Welter shoot the edge on a pitch out and make a tackle for loss. He is not a total liability out there. Not anywhere close to it. But, yes, LL has more upside.
Just be ready to grimace with LL gets pwn'd a few times early Saturday night.

Louis might not be the answer in the middle until he can gain the experience that Minter did over time to make up for being undersized. I certainly do think he has the athletic ability to be a difference maker eventually.
Welter simply does not have the athletic ability to be a difference maker for LSU. I can understand Welter starting for a McNeese, Northwestern, ULM, etc. but not for a top SEC squad. He has certainly been a liability in SEC play and teams have exposed him time and time again. I'm shocked that we have stuck with Welter all season.

Let me add more fuel to the fire by saying, LL isnt starting saturday.

Many have stated our Mike LB can not shed blockers....
Most of the teams we've played, many times, have not blocked our Mike LB, so they can use extra blockers on our DL. They would rather match up their running back vs our unblocked Mike LB. Our Mike LB waiting for the RB is a 3 - 7 yard gain on most carries.(Add yrds after contact)
I'm for whoever can make a tackle for no gain when unblocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

since he has played a nearly a whole season that at some point he made a play shouldn't be a big surprise. Louis came in and made two big plays in a row against Ole Miss. Is Louis a good MLB? not really. Is a he a step up over Welter? definetly.

Welter is a liability. He is the size of a safety.

Probably so, but Louis hasn't proven to be any better. The talent level just isn't there this season.
