Maybe I can put this in terms the Landry fans can understand.
You don't see the governors of Pennsylvania or Florida, especially, weighing in--at all--on the hiring of their next football coach, do you? You don't see the those governors firing wildly successful athletic directors at Penn State or UF at the start of that coaching search, do you? You don't see those governors wearing out national media, exposing himself as meddling imbecile, do you?
Given that, who do you think a top candidate would pick, given a choice between Florida and LSU?
So now thanks to Landry (who is not an LSU alum), Florida especially has a significant hiring advantage over LSU.
In principle, I agree that coaches in general are entirely overpaid. But it's an unfortunate reality in our sports environment that fielding competitive SEC teams requires such coaching hires. I would not be opposed to LSU de-emphasizing sports, but I imagine most on the board would disagree.

Football rules over all. Even over baseball. Everyone knows this. Losing football team? Fired
Kelly wasn't fired for having a losing team. He never had a losing season. He was fired for failing to mount a team that competed with the nation's very best.
I'm well aware that football is the most popular sport. However, the Athletic Director is responsible for ALL the sports, and there is no denying that Woodward was incredibly successful at developing an array of programs that were competitive with the nation's very best.

Except, of course, men’s basketball.
He would much rather have the only other revenue producing sport be hamstrung.
Men’s basketball
Aramark
BK coming up short
Softball coming up short
Are reasons to part ways
Would I have canned him - no.
Am I crying over it - no.
Mosclowna and his selective memory equates to a shite opinion.

You’re looking at this completely wrong, but sure, Scott Woodward exceeded our expectations. lol

The governor of Fla tried to torpedo the largest employer in his state, Disney. Even sued them. For a whole lot more than $50M. A whole lot more

DeSantis said that taxpayers would not be responsible for Disney's debt, estimated to be US $1 billion
Sound familiar?
Dumbass

LSU will NOT be able to find a comparable replacement for Woodward. We just won't. Such accomplishments do not simply grow on trees.
Bama is burning.

Oh yeah? Was Woodward here for our first six national titles in baseball? Did he hire any of the 4 football coaches who won national titles here? How about all those track championships before he got here? How about the golf national titles? No?
Ah, but he gave Jay Johnson a check, and Kim Mulkey fell into his lap after Baylor turned their back on her, so he's a genius who can't be replaced?

“Hey (insert coach of your choice), we are willing to pay you X amount of money to come coach at LSU, a school with rich history and success, no in state rival, high level talent surrounding you, and nearly all the resources you need. Are you interested?”
“No, the governor said something retarded that one time so going to pass.”
Did everyone forget that Penn State covered up kids getting raped in locker rooms? Because it’s a top 3 job right now.
I can’t wait for football this weekend so we can move on to the next story

I didn’t say that he did.
He is a click whore though, so nothing would shock me.

Woodward is just as political if not more than Landry he cut his teeth being a Democrat power broker very close to James Carville and the Baton Rouge elite He was actively trying to sabotage Landry‘s vision for LSU. Should Landry go public about it of course not but Woodward is Arrogant any damaged the two big Sports on campus he had to go.
There are a lot of money people who are trying to reshape LSU away from the woke DEI stuff and Scot was opposed to them

Scott Woodward was anything but wildly successful. He completely booted the only hire that mattered. It was total and abject failure. No other way to see it, but sure otherwise he was awesome. Hahahahahaaaa
